The next days were hectic. Aydan's schedule is full and the number of patients coming in and out are overwhelming.

"Watch attentively," the Head Nurse told us.

Aydan is having an operation right now and in the operating room with him is Emily. In the past weeks, I found out that whenever Aydan has an operation, Emily is there to assist. I can't help but recall Joem's exact words from before.

"Dr. Claveria favors her the most," he said.

I can see now why. Emily's a master with her job. I saw that as I work with her. She's dedicated and really put her heart in working. She's everything every doctor would ask for. At siguro, kung hindi pa kami nagtagpo muli ni Aydan, pwede silang magkapalagayan ng loob.

Masakit man isipin pero nakikita ko ang tingin ni Emily sa kanya. How gentle and hopeful each of her glances to my husband. At kung sakaling nahulog nga si Aydan sa kanya, hindi na ako magtataka pa.

Emily's a perfect partner. She may look tough but she's nice and soft. Nakita ko rin yun. Masungit lang siya pero mabait naman.

"Oh, look at them. Ang ganda nilang tignan dalawa," someone said in front. Pinapanood kung paano ina-assist ni Emily si Aydan.

"Bagay sila. Kaso 'di na pwede si Doc.," sabi naman ng isa.

Hindi ko sila masisisi dahil kahit ako, ganun ang naiisip ngayon. They really look together. I wonder if we look the same when we're together.

"Stop the nonsense chatting. You are here to learn from them, not to anything else," Head Nurse spoke when they still didn't stop.

I turned to her and caught her staring at me. Her eyes were gentle when she smiled at me. I nodded and smiled back, telling her that I'm fine.

Tumigil naman sa pag-uusap yung dalawa at sinarili na lang ang mga opinyon nila pero alam ko na sa isip nila nanghihinayang silang may asawa na si Aydan at hindi na sila pwede ni Emily.

"Congratulations for a successful operation!" The director greeted Aydan right after the operation.

Nanood siya kasama ang ilang board members ng hospital.

Today's operation is a big one. Bukod sa VIP ang patient, bagong paraan din ang ginamit ni Aydan at ang team niya sa pag oopera. Hindi naman ganun kahirap at kakumplikado ang procedure kaya madali iyong naisagawa ni Aydan at matagumpay iyon.

"Thank you, Dr. Mendez," Aydan answered the director. They talked some more at ng dumating si Emily, mas lalo pang humaba ang usapan nila.

I saw how the director praised Emily and how she blushed from those. Inasar pa silang dalawa ng isang board member, saying they'll be good partners in everything.

I smiled bitterly.

I was supposed to be out here right after the operation ended but Aydan told me that we will walk out together so I waited. But seeing the situation, I think I must go now.

"I'm married," I heard Aydan said and his eyes immediately roam around the area and when his eyes caught mine, he excused himself and went to me.

"Nag-uusap pa kayo," I told him when he reached me.

His hand went at the back of my waist, pushing me a bit to come near him. "I will introduce you to them," he said, walking me to where the director, Emily, and other board members were.

"Meet my wife, gentlemen. Amara Maureen Claveria," Aydan introduced me.

Wala naman na akong choice kundi ang ngumiti.

"Good afternoon, Sir." I greeted.

Nginitian naman nila ako.

"Your wife works here too?" One of the board members asked.

Aydan nodded with a smile, his hand still resting on my back. "Yes, Sir. She's an ICU nurse."

"Oh, that's great! Why don't you work in one operation someday? I'd like to see how the genius Dr. Aydan Claveria works when his beautiful wife is in front of him," another one said.

Immediately, I shook my head. "I don't think I can be in the operating room yet, Sir. I still have a lot to learn in the ICU," I said.

"I know you can do it, love. You're passionate about your work and you're brilliant. I'm sure you can handle it," Aydan said, he even sounded proud saying that.

I turned to him, widened my eyes on him. "I don't think so."

Aydan winked and said, "You're your batch valedictorian and topped the board of your batch, love. I will not doubt your intelligence and talent."

"You topped?" the director asked and I had no choice but to nod, making that the new beginning of a new conversation.

"You don't want to be in the operating room with me?" Aydan asked me. We're in his car now, on our way home.

I shook my head. "Of course, I want to. It's just that, that moment is for you and Emily. And by you, mentioning me feels like I stole her moment. I will not wonder if she feels ill towards me sooner," I said.

"She's not like that," Aydan said, creasing her brows.

I arched my brow. "But she might have gotten offended."

Chuckling, Aydan reached for my hand, bringing it to his lips and kissed it. "Stop overthink, love. She's not like that, promise. I've known her for years and I never heard her acted ill towards anyone," he said.

I sighed. "Even so. Please, love, refrain from sudden brag of me when it's her moment. I don't like the feeling of stealing someone's stage," I told him and Aydan just shrugged, smirking. 

I'd like to think that he's correct when he said that Emily never acted ill towards anyone. But seeing how the other nurses whispered to each other whenever I'm around, form how colder Emily acted towards me, I think Aydan's wrong. 

"Nurse Amara," one of the nurse at the station called me. 

"Yes?" I answered as I walk to the station.

"Hmm... Absent kasi si Nurse Kris at walang mag mo-monitor ng patients niya. Pwede bang ikaw na lang muna?"

"Yeah, sure. Ilan ba?" I asked.

"Ah. Ano, anim."

My brow arched in surprise. "Lahat?"

She nodded. "Oo, e. Busy kasi yung iba. Tapos, ikaw lang daw yung magaan dahil hindi naman critical mga patients mo."

"Yeah. But still, this is a lot." I said, looking at the pile of patients' chart in front of me.

"What's happening here?" Emily came and the station's nurse face brightened immediately.

"Nurse Emily, absent kasi si Nurse Kris. Need ng reliever at si Nurse Amara lang ang available. Kaso, anim kasi to. Mukhang mabigat para kay Nurse Amara," she told Emily.

Emily glance at me, arching her brow, before turning in front of us again. "Give her two. I'll take the rest," she then said. 

"Talaga po? Wow! The best ka talaga Nurse Emily," she said, taking out four chart and handing to Emily. 

"No big deal." Emily said before turning around and leave. 

Pagkaalis nito ay saka naman bumalik ulit sa akin yung nurse. I don't know her name and I don't think I would want to know it. 

"Ito na lang sayo, Nurse Amara." Ani niya bago inusod papalapit sa akin iyong natitirang chart. At hindi ko pa man nakukuha ay tinalikuran na ako nito, murmuring, "Buti na lang talaga nandyan si Nurse Emily."

Hearing that, I turned my back. Hindi na ako nag paalam o nag pasalamat pa.
