"Inggit lang sila sayo," Joanne said.
Umiling naman agad ako. "I think they just found it unfair that I can have everything easier because of Aydan. They might also think that I got in because of him as well," I said. I was telling her what is happening in the hospital since I was assigned to the ICU.
It was Sunday and I finally had a day off.
"Oh, I got offended. Sino ba iyang mga bruha na yan ng maipamukha sa kanila na ako ang nag recommend sayo dun at dumaan ka sa tamang proseso," sagot naman niya.
"It's fine, Jo. Hindi naman importante sa akin ang mga sinasabi nila."
"Sa ngayon. Paano kung masanay sila na ginaganyan ka? Dapat nga sumisip sila sayo dahil asawa ka ng isa sa may malaking shares sa hospital," ani niya. "They should respect you!
Mas lalo naman akong umiling. "Mas ayaw ko naman ng ganun, no. At saka, sa tingin ko naman kaya ganun sila ay nanghihinayang silang may asawa na si Aydan at hindi na sila pwede ni Emily. Tingin kasi nila bagay yung dalawa."
Joanne laughed humorlessly. "Hibang ba sila?" she said. "You've been in your husband's life since he was just Aydan Elliot. And as you said before, they are all aware that he's married even without your existence there. So, anong iniiyak-iyak nila?"
Joanne kind of right but I can't also blame the hospital staff--especially the ICU nurse--that they assumed that Aydan can be with Emily. Thus, I don't think I can still tolerate their actions towards me. Like Joanne said earlier, I am my husband's wife, that being said, should be enough for them to stop hoping for Aydan and Emily. And for respect, I am not asking for it but I know I deserve it.
"I know. And you're right, I should not let them do that to me," I said.
"Ayan. Ganyan dapat! Huwag kang papaapi. Tandaan mo, mas nauna ka kahit kanino. Nag-iisa at at walang makakapalit," Joanne said.
Napailing na lang ako at natatawa dahil marami pa siyang sinabi. Tinuruan pa ako kung paano makipag-away, kung ano ang mga dapat ko raw sabihin.
"I will not fight with them, Joanne. Stop telling that," I told her when she demonstrated how I should pull the nurse's hair when they don't stop acting ill towards me.
"Gaga. Kailangan prepared ka," ani niya.
I just shook my head and let her with her fantasies. Fantasies, dahil wala naman akong planong gawin yun.
"I will have a five-hour surgery later and I will probably be home late," Aydan informed me. It's our lunch break and we're in his office.
"I know," I answered, nodding.
"Can you drive later?"
"Yep. I can pick you up after your surgery, if you want..."
"You will?"
"Yes, love. Just give me a call and I will come," I said.
I stood near him after putting our lunch boxes inside the bag. Seeing that, Aydan pulled me to his lap. I let him and put my arms around his shoulders.
"Thank you," he said, meaning he's agreeing with my idea.
"You are always welcome," I said.
This became our routine every time we were here in his office. Because, in the first place, those times we're here were the only chances that we have time to be together.
"You know what? I'm grateful you're here now," he said, face on my neck.
I brushed his hair using my fingers. "Hmm. Why?"
