Chapter 27: Dad

I woke up the next morning feeling uneasy. Being under this roof wasn't the right action.

Hiro is Kazuo's son?

I thought about how similar their eyes are. The same eye fold, long lashes, and light eyes. Katie's eyes were green like his. No it can't be! He said that he never talked to his father.

"Good morning." I felt Hiro go over to kiss me on my head.

"Morning." I tried my best to sound normal.

I heard my phone go off, and I saw it was Kai that was calling me. I picked up.

"Satoshi, we need to talk to you now!" He sounds impatient.

"Okay." I got up.

"Who was that?" Hiro asked.

"The officer."

"See you then. I'll save you breakfast." He smiles.

"No I'll be okay." I quickly left. I didn't want to be around him.

I got down to the station, and saw Kai standing there waiting for me. "Come with me." He says. I followed.

We got to his office, and I knew I had to ask the officer now that question that has been lingering. "Office Kai." I said.

"Yes?"

"The officer Katie...what was her last name?"

He arches a brow up. "What is this about?"

"Please. She is the ex wife of my boyfriend, and she was murdered. I need to know this. Why should it be confidential?"

"Katie Beaulieu."

My eyes froze, and I couldn't blink. Katie is Hiro's mom. Did Kazuo kill her because she was helping her son in his arrest? My mind was throbbing.

"Satoshi, is everything okay? Tell me what you know." He looks at me seriously.

"Hiro he...I think he is Katie's son. I never knew, but I feel they...I don't know."

"The guy who had his card, and cufflink at the crime scene?"

"Yes." I looked up.

"This is big." He sits, and actually looks amused. "We will gather all the information later. Today I have something to share with you."

"Okay tell me."

"The crime lab showed that the blood on the knife in that bag belongs to both your cousin...as expected. The tape with blood clearly belongs to your cousin."

"I didn't do anything I swear."

"I honestly don't think you did either, but the evidence bag was in your house. Could you explain that?"

I shook my head. "I have no idea. You can do a lie detector test or anything, but I swear I didn't do anything."

"You sure you have no more suspects? We already questioned Shouta Yamada, and he doesn't seem to have any evidence linking him."

My brain hurts. "I have no idea. This is just so confusing. I don't know who to blame. I mean...Kazuo or Hiro."

"The death of Katie is linked to Kazuo. He sent her things recently, and could of poisoned her. Any idea why?"

"Her son is Hiro. Hiro hates Kazuo, and Kazuo probably wanted to rid them both."

"But won't that be too obvious?" He says.
