Chapter 23: Trust

"Oh! Hija! You came!"

Nahihiya akong tumango kay Aling Thelma na siya'ng nagbabantay sa island na ito, kasama ang kanyang pamilya.

I was on my hardest moment on the forest when I had encountered with one of the most respectable and honorable mayor of the town near this island.

Using gun and knife... I was told by my father to kill the mayor of that town as my first time of doing that, I stayed in U.S for years, I gave birth to my daughter there, and was trained with merciless and brutality. "Dito lang naman kasi gustong tumira, tsaka kung sakali ay ayaw naming iwan itong isla, nakakapanghinayang."

Sumulyap ako sa bahay nilang kubo saka bumuga sa hangin. Tumingin ako sa mag-asawa. "Paano po bilhin ang islang ito kung saka-sakali?"

They told me that they owned it so no one can buy it and own it but them... But my decision is full... I feel like this Island is another house for me na naramdaman kong tanggap ako. I thought that they would leave me, instead they asked my permission if they can stay here forever and if they can build there own house in this island near my resthouse as I nodded my head and let them know that this island is still their home. They're, they become my another family.

"Ay! Opo, Aling Thelma!" Masaya ako habang papalapit at agad siyang niyakap. "Namiss ko kayo!"

"Ay! Ako rin po ate Cean!" Sigaw ni Therese na sa pagkakaalam ko ay 20 years old na siya.

"Hi ate!" Bati sa akin ni Alvin na 20 years old din, kambal sila ni Therese eh. 

I patted thier heads before hugging them, I suddenly miss my daughter. I wish I could see her every morning I wake up and every evening before I could sleep but I just want her to be safe as long as I breathe. I can't let them hurt my daughter.

"Hija, napadaan ka? May kasama ka, nasaan na iyong anak mong sinasabi mo? At ang makalaro niya naman ang ate at kuya niya..." Ani ni Mang Adonis.

Ngumiti ako pero hindi iyon umabot sa mga mata ko. I sighed. "Hindi pa po ito ang tamang panahon..." Nakita ko silang tumahimik pero agad ring tumango na parang naiintindihan nila. "Pero may kasama po ako..." Napakagat ako sa ibabang labi ko habang inaantay ang magiging reaksyon nila.

"Talaga?" Napaangat ng tingin sa akin si Aling Thelma. "Eh nasaan siya?"

"Nasa kotse po... Nawalan ng malay kaya baka mamaya pa iyan..."

"Oh! F*ck! Aww!" Malulutong na mura ang narinig namin mula sa loob ng sasakyan, dahan-dahang napabaling roo ang tingin nila at napakagat ako lalo sa ibabang labi ko. "Cean!" He shouted.

Lumingon ako sakanya at nakaawang ang labi niya magmula noong lumabas siya sa kotse... "What the f*ck!" He exclaimed when he saw the view. His forehead creased as he stared back at these family beside me before looking intently into my eyes. "Cean, what did you do to me? Where's our Angel?" Sunod-sunod niyang tanong. "And who are they?" Tanong niya sa pamilyang nasa likuran ko.

I raised my brows. "They're my other family na itinuturing ko and you are here in my Island. Welcome!" I sarcastically said. "Ipapakilala kita sakanila." Hawak ko siya sa braso na iniharap kila Aling Thelma at sa pamilya niya. "Cohen, this is Aling Thelma, Mang Adonis, Therese and Alvin as their children..."

"Hi, hijo..."

"Hello po..."

Pakilala nila.

"Ehhh... H-hi! I am Cohen." Cohen muttered but when he faced me, his forehead knotted. "Where's Angel?"

"She's not here." Sagot ko.

"Oh ny god, Cean! What do you think you did to our daughter?! Inilayo mo siya sa atin tapos lalayo tayo sakanya, I couldn't let that happen!"

"Uh... Doon muna kami sa bahay, magluluto..." Ani ni Aling Thelma at hinila ang asawa niya na agad naman nitong hinila ang mga anak na nakatunganga sa amin.

"Look," Iniharap ko siya sa akin... "I care for my daughter, I love her and I miss her too but all I can do is to endure."

"What? Why? Please entertain me, please..." The sun ray's reflected to his gray eyes, I smiled softly smiled at him as I caressed his cheeks.

"I want her safety, I want her to stay away from danger as well as you... I also want you to be safe, no matter what happens..."

Mas lalong kumunot ang noo niya... "What are you saying? Does that mean something, that has a double meaning, am I right?"

I tiptoed and give him a peck kiss. I hugged him. "Don't worry about Bethany, she's safe with mama Lozila, I know cause I trust her..." Humiwalay ako sa yakap at tiningnan siya, mata sa mata habang ang mga kamay ko ay nakayakap sa batok niya. "Do you trust me, right?"

"I- I..."

"Do you trust me?" I asked again. I saw him bit his lower lip.

"Cohen!" I called out his name. Doon siya natauhan.

"Yes... My cutie pie. I trust you."

"Good." I whispered. "I love you..."

I saw how his confused face turned ito amuse one. "I love you too... Cean." He said between our lips and he claimed my lips as he owns it. He really owns it.
