Hunter awkwardly smiled at the three before he was suddenly tackled into a hug by a pink blur, "Hunter, you're safe!" Brooklynn exclaimed after she had made all the air inside his lungs push out.
"Y-yeah, I'm perfectly fine."
Hunter returned the hug and sighed in relief, "Honestly, I'm glad I was able to follow you guys." Brooklynn pulled her head back to look up at the dirty blond boy in confusion.
"You were following us?"
"Yeah, it was after Hap chased you and Kenji, speaking of Hap...where is he?" Hunter grew cautious, his eyes darted around the surrounding jungle.
Brooklynn and Kenji had found the ground to be interesting at this moment, but Hunter could instantly tell what that meant. Hap had been eaten by the Baryonyxs, and by the sad expressions on their faces...he knows that he did it purposely.
"He sacrificed himself for you guys, didn't he?" Hunters shoulders had dropped and his fists started to clench.
Kenji finally spoke up, "He asked us to tell you that he's sorry for everything, and that we should have a good, long life."
Hunter winced when Kenji had said that Hap was sorry, it didn't make up anything, it didn't fix the damage he had done. Hunter knew this and was angry, but some part of him wanted to forgive Hap, even if his own mind is fighting him against it.
"Doesn't make up anything, he still helped him." Hunter clenched his fists even tighter, but that anger soon faded away when he felt two gentle and soft hands smooths over his own.
"He didn't do it for nothing, he could've easily kicked us off the bike and left us to the Barys, but he didn't." Brooklynn looked up to Hunter with a soft smile.
"If anything, he did what you would've done." Brooklynn traced circles with her thumb on top of Hunters hands, which calmed him down more.
"Seems you and Hap had more in common then you think; Silent, knows the outdoors like the back of your hand, bunch of scars, putting yourself in danger to protect others, good with weapons—" Yaz had punched Kenjis shoulder to shut up him, it thankfully worked.
Brooklynns smile turned into a stern expression, she stared into Hunters eyes for a moment before any awkwardness had settled in. "Who is Cassidy Ravens?"
Hunter visibly flinched and took a step back, he didn't want any of them to ask about Cassidy or how he knows the poachers, he thought they would distant themselves from him because he believes the poachers coming here is partially his fault.
He gulped and looked at the patient stares of Brooklynn, Kenji, Yaz. He had choked up on his own words and eventually he released a heavy sigh.
"I would rather talk about it after we've dealt with Tiff and Mitch, otherwise we're losing time here."
The three looked at each other for a moment and Brooklynn nodded to Hunter as an answer from all three of them. "As long as you tell us..."
Hunter sighed again and walked back over to Yaz who is still holding the map in her hands.
"Oh yeah! Hunter, Yaz, you need to know—" Kenji was cut off by Yaz again.
"There's no time, we have to figure out what Darius's plan is!" Yaz exclaimed.
Brooklynn took a spot next to Hunter and looked down a the map, "Why is he taking Tiff and Mitch to Main Street?"
A small rumble of footsteps and the rustle of bushes from behind her had caused Yaz to turn around, the dinosaur making this noise had walked out of the jungle and right up to Yaz.
