(Hyper Vigilance by DRAIN)

(This is kinda a special chapter since this is the last chapter before the finale)

(I'll save the big "thank you" speech and all that bullshit for the final chapter but truly I do love y'all for reading this. Thank you and enjoy this brief moment of peace before the...war)

SWISH—THUNK

The arrow had sliced through the redwood tree, sinking itself into the bark while only leaving fletching visible. The boy with heavy boots trudged over to the wide tree and yanked the arrow out of the base of the massive redwood and finding no damage to the arrow.

"Ravens tech...my family could've use our genius to help the world but instead they want to kill it."

Hunter nocks the arrow back on the Ravens tech bow assuming to be created by his own father. The Nature Boy walked further back than where he originally shot as he wanted to test the bow's capabilities, so far it's what he expected out of something created from Ravens tech: perfect.

Hunter glanced at his arm where he can see the slightest detail of dermal denticles disguised as his own skin. Any damage to his original cells is replaced with new enhanced ones, and as he grows older he is hypothesized to unlock more traits from the animal DNA that dwells inside his own.

His mother was truly desperate to save her child if she did all this to Hunters DNA without knowing what could happen. There's more obvious hints to his unique genetics like the subtle dermal denticles, longer canine teeth, better senses, athletic abilities, and better regeneration than the average human. That's mostly thanks due to the Axolotl genes that was spliced with Hunters.

Hunter had drawn the string back, a predatory glare fixated on the hole he made with the previous shot. He took a deep breath, slowly releasing it as he let the string loose; sending the arrow straight into the previous shot. Unfortunately losing the arrow within the bark but he's got plenty.

The Nature Boy shook his body as he was way too tense for a simple target practice session, putting the bow string around his torso so he didn't have to carry it with his hand. The thought alone of Cassidy Ravens had caused Hunters blood to boil. The dirty blond hair teen had decided to end the session as he needed to calm down. The Nature Boy clicked his tongue to signal the Smilodon to follow, the beautiful beast had stretched before following after the Great White.

"SHOW ME YOUR STRENGTH!!!"

"IF YOU ARE MY SOM THEN YOU SHOULD BE SLAUGHTERING THESE PATHETIC CREATURES LIKE A TRUE RAVENS!!! ARE YOU NOT MY SON?!"

"I will beat the beast out of you and drag your rotting corpse through the streets of the world, parading my inevitable victory over your supposed destiny to defeat me."

Every thing the great hunter has ever said to the boy had begun to play throughout his thoughts like a compilation video. There was so much he had said to own son. Mostly about how he will kill him in the end and about how the Nature Boy cannot decide his fate for him.

"The only reason George has kept you alive is because he thinks you can one day crumple my Empire."

"I cannot believe you are my child."

"You are foolish to think your Mother had ever wanted you."

Hunter had stopped in place, clenching and unclenching his fists, the Smilodon had immediately nudged his hand before rubbing its head against his leg to calm him down. Hunter looked down at the large cat with a distance look before softly smiling.
