♡︎Maeve's POV♡︎
♡︎. I watch the clock tick on the wall, desperate to get out of class and see River. Yesterday we both fell asleep after the whole scene.
I know there's something more happening and I'm going to figure it out.
The clock hits 8:40 causing the school bell to ring. I hastily collect my books and shove them into my bag.
River stayed in today for obvious reasons.
I hurry to the kitchen and set my book-bag on the nearest chair, moving to the counter to make us some tea.
I made hers exactly how she liked, hers was more bitter than mine.
I drizzled some honey in both of our mugs then set them on the tea tray.
Carefully, I move up the stairs to the dorm hallway.
Halfway up, I hear Rivers vigorous guitar playing. I smile softly, acknowledging the fact that she uses music as a coping mechanism.
I knock at her door loudly so that she can hear the knocks over the music.
The music homes to a halt and I hear her soft footsteps coming closer, then a click signaling she's opening the door.
I smile softly as I'm met with River's beautiful face. She looks gorgeous today just like any other.
Her black her down and sprawled out over her shoulders. She had no makeup on, her skin looked beautiful. I've come to love the few small freckles at different parts of her face, my favorites are the one above her lip and under her eye.
She smiles back at me, showing her pretty white teeth while opening the door wider for me to come in.
I set the tea tray down on her desk.
"I made your favorite."
She smiles gratefully and comes over to grab her mug. I grab mine as well.
I watch as she leans her hip against the desk while tracing the edge of her cup nervously.
"Uhm..so I'm really sorry for uh yesterday." She mutters softly looking at anything but me.
I set my tea down and move closer to her, moving some hair out of her face.
"I already told you it's okay. I promise, I want nothing more than to help you." I say in a gentle voice.
She smiles at me sadly, "I'm a mess."
I pull her into me while rubbing her back softly.
"You're not a mess Rivs. We all have our bad days. Thank you for opening up to me, I know how hard that is."
She pulls back from the hug while smiling. "You're too nice."
I laugh softly, "I just care about you."
She nods and takes a sip of her tea.
"Are you going home for Christmas break?" I ask trying to move onto a lighter topic.
She shrugs, "Most likely not, I don't feel like dealing with that."
I nod in agreement. "I'm not going either."
She smirks at me. "We'll be almost the only ones here, we won't have to worry about being too loud."
I look at her in shock as I feel my cheeks heat up. She laughs at me and walks over to her guitar.
I take a deep breath trying to cool myself as I watch River adjust the guitar against her chest.
How could something so small be so attractive?
