❤︎Maeve's POV❤︎

❤︎. Today's the first day of Christmas break. All of the girls in our dorm are either gone or about to leave, scurrying away to hug their families.

I smile softly at how happy they all look.

I sit forward straightening my posture then swipe a stray hair out of my face.

Smiling softly, I listen to Rivers footsteps leading up to my door followed by a rhythmic knock.

"The doors unlocked!" I call out to her which she responds with swinging it open with a little too much force.

She grins at me sheepishly and plops onto the bed beside me.

"Break is going to be really boring." She adds to which I nod in agreement.

I look over to her, secretly scanning her face. Her eyes look more tired than usual, the grey behind her eyes seemingly blurred with exhaustion.

She had bags forming under her eyes, her lips semi chapped, her skin taking on a paler hue.

Though somehow she still managed to look breathtaking.

I snap out of my thoughts as I hear a yawn flee Rivers mouth.

"Tired?" I ask trying not to seem as if I'm prying. She nods stiffly while fiddling with her necklace that had a crescent moon charm dangling from it.

I hum in acknowledgment and lay down on my side next to her. She flips onto her side as well, making us face to face.

I smile softly while watching a smile spread across her face. I'd do anything in the world to keep her happy. She's my everything, wether she realizes it or not.

I feel her cold fingertips glide against my cheek in a loving manner. They then trace over my arch of my eyebrows, the bump of my nose, the curve of my top lip; lingering there for a bit.

I pucker my lips forward, giving a small peck to her fingertips. I watch her cheeks warm at the action, my heart swarming with love.

I shuffle a bit closer to her, us only an inch apart. "May I?" I whisper to her waiting for consent.

She nods softly at me making me smile at her sudden shyness. I close the small gap between us. Our lips meeting in the most precious way.

This kiss was different than the few we've shared before. It was such a pure moment, almost as if our individual souls collided as one.

I pull away slowly. I take in the sight of her eyes closed, lips slightly puckered, and cheeks flushed a rosy pink color.

God she's gorgeous.

I then place gentle kisses to each feature of her face. I love the way her smile grows with each kiss.

"You're so precious Rivs." I say softly watching her face soften with love.

Her eyes begin to gloss over, her bottom lip slightly quivering.

"You're my everything." She adds, her voice cracking at the end of her sentence. A single tear glistens down her soft cheek only to be swiped away by my thumb, followed by me kissing over the spot.

❤︎

River had made us dinner tonight and like always I'm stuffing my face.

River laughs at my eagerness, "Slow down before you choke."

I shrug at her and continue eating.

The short silence was quickly interrupted by the sound of rivers phone ringing. I forgot she even had a phone.

I see her shoulders tense as she reaches for it.

"Hello?....Hi mother." She muttered while walking away.

I furrow my eyebrows. I mean come on, her mom can't be that bad.

Right?

More than a few minutes pass and I've finished all my food. River was still outside, on the phone I'm assuming.

I put my plate in the dishwasher and make my way to the door. I look outside the main window and see River sitting on the entrance stairs with her head in her left hand and a cigarette in the right.

I quietly walk about and make my way to sit on the stair next to her.

"Is everything alright?" I ask to which I get no response.

I put my hand on her back to comfort her only for her to quickly shoot up from her spot on the stair, scaring the shit out of me in the process.

She takes a drag from her cigarette then drops it to the ground, squishing it with her shoe.

"Would you like to go home with me?" She asks after blowing out her smoke.

"What?" I ask confused on what she means by that.

"For the holiday. My mom told me to come home, would you like to go with me?" She said again seeming frustrated that she has to repeat herself.

I hesitate but then nod my head thinking it could be a good way for us to bond more. Hopefully I can show her parents they have no reason to hate me.

A small smile spreads on her face and she holds her arms out to me.

I stand up and slide into her arms, smiling as she places a kiss to my forehead.

"I'm sorry I've been moody lately." She chuckles softly.

"It's okay Rivs, I get it."

We stand there for a few more seconds before breaking apart and going back inside.

I hope everything goes well..
