♡︎Maeve's POV♡︎
♡︎. Everything around me felt fuzzy, my ears ringing in pain. I let out a grunt and go to clutch my forehead, only to realize I couldn't move my hands.
A panic seers through my body. I open my eyes, wincing. I take in my surroundings.
The room is dark. The only light is from a missing brick at the top of the wall. I could use that to my advantage.
There's weird sigils and animal heads decorating the walls. An eerie feeling in my stomach makes me nauseous.
My mind races in thought.
Where am I?
Who took me?
Where's River?
Is River okay?
What did she mean by 'I'm so sorry'?
My breathing comes in ragged shaky gulps.
The room is cold, goosebumps decorate my exposed skin. The hairs on the back of my neck standing proudly.
I wiggle my hands around attempting fo get loose, yet that only makes the ropes cut into my wrists.
I think to scream, yet decide against it, that usually doesn't work in horror movies. Plus I don't want to attract negative attention.
"Fuck." I mutter under my breath.
I notice a small door across from me. My mind immediately connects to the one at Rivers house; at the end of her hallway.
My heart skips a beat, surely this isn't Rivers house. They wouldn't- they wouldn't do that to me? Right?
♡︎
The second time I wake. My stomach was churning in hunger. The light that was coming in from the brick, no longer visible.
Silent tears stream down my face as I try to hold myself together.
There's a click and then a creak, followed by someone entering the room.
I immediately recognize the person. Rivers mother.
The edge of my vision blurs as my heart beats rapidly.
"You..why am I here? What's going on? I'm scared." My voice wavers at the end of my sentence. A pathetic crack signaling that a fresh layer of tears was glossing my eyes.
She just stares for a moment. A grim smile causing the edges of her mouth to wrinkle, was plastered on her face.
"Oh dear, how I've longed for this moment. I've been waiting ages."
My eyebrows furrow.
"I didn't think it would happen so soon but ahhh, here you are. Gorgeous skin and all."
"Why am I here?" I whisper shakily to which she utters a 'tsk tsk'.
"You're the missing part, and I finally have you, all because of my lovely daughter." She smiles tauntingly.
"No..she- she wouldn't do that!" I snap. She quirks a brow at me in response.
Opening the door, River walks in. Her head was down; ashamed to meet my gaze.
Her mother smiles and wraps an arm around her. "Your assistance was greatly appreciated daughter."
My heart beats rapidly in my chest. Breaths coming in shaky and shallow.
"Why?!" I sob out in Rivers direction, "Why are you doing this, I thought.. I thought you-"
Sobs were flying out of my throat, quickly slipping past my lips.
