He was dead. Rhea couldn't believe that Kol was dead. She couldn't believe she had watched her friends kill Kol because of a stupid cure that they weren't even sure existed. Naturally, she was distraught that she had lost another person, she knew she couldn't be sad anymore. She shouldn't be sad knowing she should be pissed. She wanted Elena's head on a platter because she had taken another special person from her because of her own selfishness. The Elena that existed wasn't the Elena that she once knew—this Elena was content with committing a genocide because she wanted a cure for her vampirism.

Everyone who had become a vampire grew to live with what was, but Elena needed to have the cure and the world wouldn't be on its axis until she was human again apparently.

All the pain she felt after losing her bond with Tyler was shortly replaced by the hatred she felt for Elena. The fire that she felt spread across her chest as her soul got broken into pieces from the removal of Tyler's part of her was replaced by anger and loathing—it was a similar sensation, but, the outcome of it was much more desirable.

After Elijah had taken her out of the Gilbert house, she had herself graduated early and they had left for a small town in Pennsylvania to be alone. Klaus had kept them in the loop as to what was happening—Matteo had gotten him out of the house and the rest of her friends had come to him begging for help for him to crack the code for the cure. Klaus only helped when he realised there was only one dose and he had tried to give Rebekah the warning so she would get to it first.

Jeremy ended up being killed on the island of Nova Scotia in search for the cure—and in turn, Elena turned off her humanity and burned her house down. Served her right.

So, when Katherine Pierce contacted her to let her know she had something for her that she wouldn't be able to refuse and asked to meet, Rhea didn't hesitate to say yes.

"Thank you for meeting me." Katherine says as soon as Rhea sat down in front of her in a small diner outside of town.

"Well, I figured if Katherine Pierce calls me asking for help that it'd be interesting." Rhea responded, smiling as the waitress poured her a cup of coffee, "What is it exactly that you needed?"

"I need your help—more specifically, your protection." Rhea's eyebrow raised in interest and her jaw went slightly slack as Katherine placed down a vile on the table, "It's the cure. I stole it and I had to kill Jeremy Gilbert to get it."

"Jesus." Rhea sighed, "They would for sure try to come after you because of this." She said picking it up to expect it, "All that effort just for this one small vile." Her dark eyes met Katherine's, "Why did you bring it to me? You could've gone and done anything in return."
