It was a miracle to Rhea that Stefan Salvatore was still alive by now. She had expected Stefan to be killed within the first few weeks of being with Klaus because he had gotten bored of him—because that's what she expects from a powerful being like Klaus; that he uses people for what he wants (which is usually carnage) and then gets rid of them when they're no longer of use to him. She knows that they bargained ten years of what seems like slavery to the big bad wolf, but, Rhea wouldn't have been surprised if Klaus decided to terminate the contract early. But, to Elena, it was a new sign of hope. She had been wanting to find any sign that Stefan was still alive and was begging anyone she could to help her find him despite being turned away at every attempt only to find that Damon had been tracking him the whole time.
Rhea just really couldn't believe it, and she couldn't stop shaking her head at the whole thing every time it crossed her mind. When Rhea walks downstairs from her room the next morning, she sees her mom nursing a glass of scotch, "On the rocks already?" She remarks, "Rough night?"
"Rough week—I'm a little stressed." Carol tells her and Rhea shakes her head at her. Any excuse to have a drink—Carol was the type of person to have a drink because it rained as an excuse, "Coffee's hot, by the way." Rhea hums as she walks over to the coffee pot and pours herself a mug without hesitation. She never really has been a morning person—and she needs coffee to function normally. She doesn't see Carol eyeing her, waiting for a sizzling sound, "What are your plans for today?"
"Catching up with Elena and Caroline at the Grill later this morning." Rhea answers her, focusing on making her coffee the way she likes it, "Girl time, you know?" She lies smoothly. She's not going to tell her that they planned to talk about werewolves so Elena can track her vampire boyfriend and the evil Original hybrid he's a servant for. Carol hums in response, and Rhea missed the way her mom's face hardens at the mention of the Forbes girl. Instead, she's focused on her coffee and brings the mug to her lips to take a sip of it. Her face grimaces and she pulls the mug away, "Oh, gross. We need to fire whoever thought it was acceptable to put bad cream into this."
Carol's face is almost relieved, but, Rhea misses it as she puts her mug down, "Don't wait up tonight. Tyler and I are going out with some people for a bonfire." She lies, because her and Tyler aren't going out for a bonfire, they're chaining themselves up for another full moon of pain and torture. She wasn't going to say they're going with the usual people—because while they usually hang out with Elena, Caroline, Bonnie and Matt; they have been seen with other people, and they can't risk their lie being exposed if the girls or Matt are seen in public without them.
