"Nope. It'll never happen." Remus shook his head, him and his new roommates were playing 2 truths and 1 lie to get to know one another and one of them made one of their truths 'you're going to fall in love with me someday'.
"I'm telling you! Before we leave this school, you'll be in love with me!" The obnoxious boy spoke.
"And I'm telling you, you'll never steal my heart!" Remus replied dryly.
The four boys had only known each other a few days but they were already thick and thieves. Peter was a chubby little boy, his parents were nice enough but un-noteworthy, much like him, he seemed to attach himself to another one of the boys, a young pureblood named James, he seemed sweet and fairly intelligent. Finally that left Sirius, an obnoxious boy from a family of arseholes who was adamant he would make Remus fall in love with him.
"It's not gonna happen." James laughed.
"Now now. I have 7 years, don't I?" Sirius smirked.
But those seven years started quickly, by the end of 1st year the four of them were best friends but Sirius made no progress in getting Remus to fall for him, much to his dismay.
midway through second year, however, Sirius noticed something about Remus, he had always had mysterious scars but they were getting worse, it came to a head when Remus showed up one morning, a massive gash diagonally down his face stretching from one of his eyebrows to his other cheek.
James and Peter were already down for breakfast but Sirius being Sirius he was running late, he was halfway through doing up his tie when he saw Remus sneak in.
"Hey! Where on earth have you- Remus, oh my god, what happened to your face?!" Sirius said, running toward him.
"Nothing! I tripped and cut my face, I'm fine." Remus replied but Sirius wasn't listening, he was too busy raking under his bed for a first aid kit.
"Rem, seriously, what has been going on with you? You disappear all the time for entire nights, you're always tired after, you get random cuts and bruises, it's like you're getting in fights or something, and it's always at night and... Oh my god..." Sirius trailed off as he was dressing Remus' wound.
"W-What...?" Remus asked, petrified that Sirius may have figured out his secret.
"You're a werewolf aren't you?" Sirius asked, locking eyes with Remus.
"Yes." Remus whispered, expecting Sirius to recoil in horror, he shut his eyes in anticipation for the spew of hatred that was to come his way and was then shocked when instead he felt Sirius wrap his arms around him. When he opened his eyes, Sirius was hugging him tightly with his head in Remus' neck.
"Rem, I am so sorry. I can't imagine everything you've gone through." Sirius mumbled and Remus felt a wave of relief wash over him.
"You don't care? You don't... think I'm a monster?" Remus asked quietly.
"A monster? Remus, you're a saint, you're so young, and you put up with this day in and day out, every month you have to go through hell and you do it with a smile on your face. You are... so incredible." Sirius said, holding both of Remus' hands and staring into his eyes. Remus was fighting back tears and he found himself hugging into Sirius, refusing to let go.
"Thank you so much, Sirius. I've always been so afraid to tell people... My parents were the only ones who knew and they... They told me people would think I was a monster if they ever found out." Remus explained, still clinging onto his best friend.
