"Thanks so much guys, I feel like we haven't had a minute to think since Harry came- I mean not that we would trade him for the world but y'know... I miss sleep." Lily smiled as she handed over the baby to Remus, he and Sirius had agreed to babysit him while Lily and James got a weekend to rest.

"Of course, he's my favourite nephew." Remus cooed, looking down at the adorable baby.

"He's your only nephew, moony" James laughed.

"doesn't mean he can't be my favourite" Remus joked, wiggling his finger in front of the baby.

"Now get yourselves away, go rest! Sleep! Drink! Have a little hanky panky" Sirius said, emerging from the kitchen to join Remus. Lily scowled at him for a moment before the pair headed away, leaving baby Harry alone with his uncles.

"So, what do we do first? Teach him quidditch? Play board games? Bake co-" Sirius was cut off by Remus laughing "What's so funny?"

"Pads, he's a baby, he can't even crawl there's no way he can do those things." Remus said, still laughing as he held the child.

"Well what can he do?" Sirius asked, huffing that his new nephew wouldn't be able to have any fun with him.

"Mostly he'll just sleep and eat, we're just watching him and making sure he's okay." Remus explained as he carried baby Harry and a large duffel bag James left to the lounge.

"That hardly sounds like any fun!" Sirius exclaimed, following Remus through to the lounge and plonking himself down on the sofa.

"Honey, he may not be able to do much, but isn't it nice just to spend time with him?" Remus asked, smiling down at the baby in his arms.

"I suppose so, he's actually quite cute, especially considering he came from prongs of all people!" Sirius joked, it got a small laugh out of Remus.

"The spitting image of his dad, isn't he?" Remus said, fondly.

"Rem baby, are you thinking about having kids?" Sirius asked after hearing the tone in Remus' voice. Remus looked away from Harry briefly, thinking for a moment.

"Maybe. I suppose it wasn't something I'd given much thought to, especially with my condition. It feels dangerous, don't you think?" Remus replied, sounding a little sad when he began talking about his lycanthropy.

"So, we could get Prongs and Lily to babysit on full moons, and I can take care of you like normal." Sirius suggested, placing a hand delicately on Remus' thigh.

"We couldn't ask them to do that, every month for god knows how long? It wouldn't be fair." Remus shook his head.

"Well we could always get wormtail to do it sometimes too, plus Harry could be like a big cousin." Sirius suggested, Remus smiled fondly at the idea.

"I'm not sure, Siri... It's wonderful to think about, but do you really think we could do it?" Remus finally looked up at Sirius, meeting his eyes.

"As long as I've got you, I know we can get through anything."

And just like that, it was decided, they would discuss it at home, talk about the boring things like finances and space, and after that they'd tell their friends about it. The two grew excited over the coming days, feeling as though a brand new chapter was just on the horizon. But it couldn't last.

Instead of welcoming a new love in to the world, Remus lost the love of his life, and all of his best friends in one night. Sirius thought every night in Azkaban about what might have been, about how he would've raised a son or daughter, about how life might have been with a child in his arms and his husband by his side. But they were alone.
