Remus loved the morning, he loved waking up to hear his boyfriend humming in the kitchen as he cooked, he loved walking downstairs to see his lover in an old torn up band tee which was long past its prime, his hair down below his shoulders looking messy from a night of rest.
He loved the way his boyfriend would lift him up and twirl him around as if he weighed nothing, he loved how raspy Sirius' voice was in the morning and how even after so many years he could still fluster him.
This morning was no different, Remus awoke to the familiar humming, he got himself up and walked downstairs, his boyfriend lifted and twirled him before setting him down and placing a gentle kiss on his lips.
"Good morning, moony" Sirius spoke, his morning voice hoarse but soft.
"Morning pads, sleep well?" Remus asked as he sat himself down nearby.
"I did. And you, my darling?" Sirius replied, pouring a cup of coffee and bringing it over to Remus.
"Mm wonderfully." Remus responded, motioning for his boyfriend to lean down and kiss him, which he did with great joy.
This was how their mornings always were, quiet, intimate, just the two of them and it was all Remus could ever ask for. The only mornings which differed from their usual routine were the ones following a full moon, on those days Remus would sleep in, exhausted from the night prior.
He'd wake up to Sirius already sitting on his bedside tending to wounds, and he'd groan in discomfort, Sirius would hold his hand and tell him everything was alright, that he wasn't alone, that he was there for him.
"Shh, you're alright, I'm almost done," Sirius spoke softly as he finished up with the wounds on Remus' arms and torso, his legs already having been done "you have one little cut on your cheek but I think that one will be alright without any extra work."
"I love you so much Sirius, I don't know what I did to deserve someone like you. How you can be so sweet to me when you know what I am still astounds me." Remus said quietly, and Sirius immediately paused his work.
"Hey, don't talk like that. What you are is perfect for me, I don't care that you're a werewolf, I have never cared that you're a werewolf, you're just Remus to me, and I wouldn't trade you for the world." Sirius said, placing a hand on Remus' cheek, careful not to touch the small cut there, Remus leaned into his hand and gave him a tired smile.
"Do you want me to bring you some breakfast, or would you like to sleep a little longer?" Sirius asked, noting how Remus' eyes were foggy with exhaustion.
"Sleep, just a little longer though." Remus answered, yawning. Full moons were mentally, and physically exhausting for him, and Sirius knew that well by now.
"Alright angel, I'll be just downstairs, okay?" Sirius said, but Remus grabbed him arm tightly and shook his head.
"No. Stay. I need you with me." Remus spoke, there was a small amount of panic in his voice and Sirius nodded, wordlessly getting back into bed and wrapping his arms around his boyfriend, allowing him to drift back off to sleep.
Mornings smelled like Sirius, they felt like Sirius, they were coffee and gruff voices and warm hugs. Mornings were so special to Remus because they were a moment alone from the ever changing and dangerous world, a moment where his boyfriend and him could simply be alone and happy together.
Mornings were always Remus' favourite, because they were always with Sirius.
