Let's Talk About The Title

I'm sure at least one or two of you guys were thinking 'hmm this story really doesn't fit the title' let me explain why.

See the way writing works for me is I come up with a part of a story, or a plot just randomly and then I create something out of it, usually halfway through or once the story is complete I come up with a name for the story.

But this time I wrote the idea that came to mind and then the name for the book came to mind and I was like this is it!

This is what I came up with.

"What? The Kim Taehyung can't possibly be interested in someone as Average as him".

"I hate that you're so Average" he glared at Jimin "of course you do, yet somehow you're still here in my room with your hands in mine" Jimin stepped forward.

"I hate your status in the world not you" Taehyung said pulling Jimin into him and kissing his plump lips.

They weren't even dating, weren't friends either yet here they were, Jimin kissing Taehyung so fucking hard the older's knees grew weak.

I know it looks messy, so I'll explain it.

"What? The Kim Taehyung can't possibly be interested in someone as Average as him".

This is (some of) the other students' outlook and the things they say.

"I hate that you're so Average" he glared at Jimin "of course you do, yet somehow you're still here in my room with your hands in mine" Jimin stepped forward.

"I hate your status in the world not you" Taehyung said pulling Jimin into him and kissing his plump lips.

This is a conversation between the two once they're in private

They weren't even dating, weren't friends either yet here they were, Jimin kissing Taehyung so fucking hard the older's knees grew weak.

This is the information I would be using to somewhat mould the story.

So that's what I wanted to write

I tried to make what I wanted to write clearer and did a little brainstorming and came up with this.

Being “Average” was something Jimin wasn't ungrateful for but somewhat wished he wasn't, he wanted to be rich, live an easy and fast life it wasn't because he was selfish, if anything Jimin was the most selfless person his friends knew.

The reason he wished to be rich was because he just wanted to be able to be respected be looked up to and feel important.

Being "Rich" was something that Taehyung almost hated, sure he wasn't famous and his dad wasn't the richest person on earth.

But he had enough money to say "money doesn't bring you happiness" and mean it, he was sure if he was Average he would feel like the things around him had more value.

He would feel like he had more space and privacy, more genuine people around him.

The two were pretty much the complete opposite of each other, Taehyung being the Rich and popular in school and Jimin being the Average and looked down on.

But yet somehow one party brings them closer than they could ever imagine.

The story was supposed to be about statuses in the world about how rich people are amazing and are like celebrities and average people like Jimin are looked down on.

It was supposed to show how two people from (what felt like) two different worlds fell in love but didn't jump into dating.

They both wanted to have different statuses and at a party they found each other.

But I failed, with some aspects I actually got them the way I wanted but with the main thing about status, I failed.

While writing It often crossed my mind that I should change the title to make it something that fit the story better.

But I wanted to focus more on getting the story finished than anything, so I finished the story and then I started writing this, the Let's Talk About The Title.

And then I was like 'why not just keep it as Average?' I mean Taehyung was an average person, Jimin was too.

Sure not everyone has been through or goes through what Jimin went through and sure not everyone is rich like Taehyung.

But they're not anyone special, maybe in that college Taehyung was but outside of that college he was another human being.

They weren't anyone special they were Average.

Their relationship wasn't anything special everyone has trust issues, everyone had been through shit and everyone makes stupid decisions out of fear.

That's why I named the story Average.

It fits, it describes the characters and their relationship.
