TW: Suicidal thoughts
Outside of Darmstadt, Germany
"So, you got a plan?"
Yara and Natasha had landed about an hour ago. They had left the quinjet, as Natasha called their plane, and had made their way into the city that was close to their landing spot. The very first thing they had done there, was to find some place to stay at. They found a hotel downtown that didn't look like much but should suffice. Yara and Natasha had quickly decided to share a room to save money since the room had two beds anyway. They had gone to inspect it before they had left the place again to grab something to eat which had taken them roughly an hour.
Now, they were seated opposite each other in separate beds in their room. Yara was curious how the blonde in front of her was planning on going about this.
"Do you?", Natasha replied shortly with a smirk.
"Hey. This was your idea", Yara defended herself. Then she added in a more serious tone, "But I don't know how many of them there are now. I guess we should probably scout the area and learn their movement and schedules first."
Natasha agreed. "Let's get some sleep. We got some work to do later."
Yara nodded, although she doubted that she would get any sleep.
While Natasha was getting ready in the bathroom, Yara got up and walked up to the window. There, she pushed her head past the curtains which they had closed earlier to avoid unwanted looks. It was late in the morning and the street in front of the hotel was busy with traffic and people walking or riding their bikes to work or classes. Some were shopping and going from store to store. A tram announced itself by ringing a bell, warning pedestrians to get off the tracks.
Oh, how Yara wished to be any one of those people. She has grown tired of her own life years ago. Her sister had been the only thing keeping her feet firmly on the ground. Yes, Natasha's company definitely helped, but, as much as she appreciated the Avenger's support and presence in her life, she could feel how her will to live and go on slowly crumbled and slipped away.
Yara huffed frustratedly. How ironic that she would seemingly be cursed to live this dull life forever. All of those thoughts crossed her mind as she looked at the people underneath her go about their possibly boring but at least peaceful lives.
A sound behind her caught Yara's attention. She pulled her head back to see that Natasha had left the bathroom.
Yara grabbed a few things out of her backpack and locked herself in the bathroom. She emerged back out into the room some time later in a large t-shirt and sweatpants. Natasha was already in bed and had her eyes closed. She only opened them for a short spell to look at Yara and wish her a good night.
The brunette replied by bidding the blonde a good night as well, even though it was technically not night. Then, Yara climbed into her own bed and crawled underneath her duvet.
She was tired, but her mind wouldn't rest and Yara was scared to sleep. She stared up into the air for a long while until the tiredness that had built up over weeks finally overwhelmed her and sleep took her.
As usual, that sleep didn't last long. She soon found herself screaming her lungs out from another nightmare. Two small, firm hands held her shoulders tightly and a calm voice brought her back to reality. Yara was covered in a cold sweat and she was panting.
Her eyes finally found a familiar person sitting next to her and she stopped shaking.
"Sorry", was all, Yara managed to get out with a rough voice. She sat up slowly and searched for any signs of anger or, even worse, pity on Natasha's face, but all she could find was worry.
