TW: Death, description of a dead body, etc. - anything that can happen in a war

Birnin Zana, Wakanda

It felt like the battle had been going on for days. At some point during the fight, Yara decided to switch to guns, because she was able to take out more aliens with those and they were less exhausting to use than the spear and the dagger.

Suddenly, a loud rumbling filled the air. Yara had a bad feeling about this. Her suspicions were confirmed when gigantic wheel things came out of the earth inside the dome. Yara didn't know how else to describe them. The machines mercilessly plowed their way through aliens and Wakandans alike. And they were coming straight toward her. Then, some of them split up and moved around individually.

They had to take those things out somehow. She heard Sam and Rhodes communicate in order to stop those things, but their efforts didn't seem to do anything.

One set of those things had stuck together and was coming straight toward Yara. She doubted that she had the strength left to get out of its way on time. Thankfully, Wanda suddenly landed in front of it and lifted them up. Impressive. Then, she dropped them on dozens of aliens.

Yara noticed only now that Natasha was maybe two dozen meters away from her. They must have drifted toward each other during their fights.

Natasha hadn't noticed her and Yara's attention was quickly grabbed by two aliens who attacked her. As she was fighting, she heard Steve's voice through her earpiece. She hadn't realized that Wanda's save meant nobody was with Vision except for Shuri who had to work. It seemed that the two were attacked. Then she heard Wanda's voice, but before the young woman could go anywhere, she got hit by an alien. It wasn't just any alien either, it was the female from Edinburgh, the one who was apparently leading this army.

For some reason, although Yara hadn't even gotten a proper chance to speak to Wanda yet, the brunette got enraged by the alien's action. Fueled by anger and full of adrenaline, she made her way toward the blue woman while killing as many enemies as possible. When she arrived, the alien was fighting against Natasha and Okoye, the leader of the Dora Milaje. Both, the Avenger and the Wakandan warrior were formidable fighters which lead Yara to believe that she wouldn't be of much use to them there. Instead, she stayed out of the ditch where the three women were fighting and kept other aliens from getting in there. She heard noises of metal meeting metal and grunts from various women, but she didn't get a chance to look back and see what was happening.

More and more aliens approached Yara and she was running low on ammunition. Finally, she slipped the rifles onto her back and took her dagger. She had left the spear somewhere on the battlefield.

As Yara was slicing through aliens and doing her best to keep them out of the ditch, the last reserves of her strength were quickly being used up. The energy that the adrenaline boost required was accelerating that and eating at those reserves rapidly. She didn't even know that she had had these until now when she had to use them and when she had the right motivation to need them. Yara also didn't know how she hadn't died yet. The blood loss should have killed her a while ago, but somehow, she had managed to keep going. Nevertheless, now, those last energy reserves were dwindling rapidly. She knew that it was only a matter of time before her body would give up. Her vision was blurry again and her legs were shaking, which irritated her injuries further.

Finally, her knees buckled with no strength left to keep her standing. She pulled out the rifles again in a desperate attempt to kill as many aliens as possible before she died.

All of a sudden, one of those gigantic wheel things sped directly toward her. She couldn't move out of the way. There was nothing she could do as it approached her rapidly. Her mind turned to Natasha as she remembered that the Avenger was still in the ditch right behind her with Wanda and Okoye. Her throat tightened with panic.
