Oświęcim, Poland

Yara's whole body was in pain as a result of the latest experiments, if they could even still be called that. The word torture seemed to be a better fit for what Griebel's people were doing with her. They had stopped her daily injections around the same time when they had started some sort of electroshock therapy. In other words, they fried her brain.

She was extremely malnourished, dirty, and tired. It had been days since the last time that she had been able to stand up properly with a straight back on her own two legs without support.

Yara was back on the examination table. A man in a lab coat was standing at a table next to her and working on something. A commotion in the hallway outside of the room caught her attention. She was able to single out one of them which belonged to Griebel. The man in question opened the door and strode into the room a few seconds later. He seemed agitated.

"Warum dauert das so lange?", Griebel wanted to know with impatience laced in his voice why it was taking so long. He stared at the man who Yara presumed to be a scientist angrily.

"It takes time. One treatment wasn't enough with the Winter Soldier either. With him, it took much longer. I don't expect that's going to be any different with this one either", the scientist explained. He nodded towards Yara to show who he was referring to.

The brunette has had her suspicions of what the point of the latest tests was and this basically confirmed her main one. They were trying to control her, likely to use her as their weapon.

"I will never work for you", she spat out with as much hate as she could muster.

Griebel finally looked down at her for the first time since he had entered the room.

"Oh yeah? It's not like we are giving you a choice. But, perhaps, I should let you know that we have found an antidote for your -", he took a short break before he finished the sentence as if he was trying to find the right word, "- power. So, if you ever even think about going against Hydra, we won't hesitate to use it."

Yara hadn't heard his last words. Her mind was revolving around what the man had said before that. An antidote for her immortality existed? There was something that could finally end this? She had never even allowed herself to imagine a future where she could die and stay dead.

Griebel's voice caught her attention again. He was speaking with the scientist. "I am getting impatient. Speed up the process. I don't care how. And don't worry about killing her."

He fully turned towards Yara and clearly addressed his next words to her. "That's the beauty of it. We have an unlimited number of tries. If we kill her, we can just try again." He sent her an evil grin and left the room, leaving Yara alone with the scientist.

He didn't talk as he got back to work. All, Yara could do, was watch him from her place on the examination table. Soon enough, he moved over to her with something in his hand. She couldn't see what it was but figured that it couldn't be anything good.

The man moved over to the end of the table where her head was located and started attaching cables to her head. He leaned down so his head was mere centimeters away from her face and continued his work.

"Don't move."

Yara barely heard the whispered words. "What?"

"I didn't say anything", the scientist replied. Then he whispered something else in her ear while pretending that he was still attaching cables to her head.

"I will give you a blade in a second. Then, I will return to your head to check up on the cables. You will knock me out and then leave. There is a syringe on the table to your right with adrenaline. Take it. You'll need it. Go left once you're outside of the room and run. Get as far away from here as you can."
