Chapter 10
We arrived at Lola's grandparents house after a long long time of walking. Apparently Lola had hidden a stash of money there just incase she needed it but first we had to get past her Grandmother and Grandad. We decided on a plan after a while of arguing; I would knock on their front door and keep them occupied while Ash would sneak round the side and then go through the conservatory and look for the money.

I walked up the path trying to seem confident, I'm not sure who I was trying to persuade Lola's grandparents or myself. I pressed the doorbell but no one answered for a few minutes so I pressed it again, this time Lola's Grandad opened the door. "Hello there Kriss, what brings you here?"

"I...um...could I speak to...uh...Lola?" I asked trying to think on my feet - obviously failing miserably.

"No she isn't, why?" He said.

My mind went completely blank "Oh don't worry, its not important. I was just wondering about this science exam we have next week."

"You can wait for her if you want?" He offered.

"No thanks" I shook my head while I spoke. "I think I'll just wait till monday." I smiled nicely at Lola's grandad before I turned to leave, I silently hoped Ash had already gotten the money and got out.

But how did I know it wouldn't be that simple, I heard a loud sound coming from inside the house. The back door flung open and Ash ran out with a pink piggy bank in his hand. "Quick!" He shouted as he ran towards me.

He court up to me and we ran side by side for a couple blocks before we came to a stop. "Where to next?" I asked him breathlessly.

"Jail" He said grinning.

I looked at the receptionist nervously "Can we please see Lola Thomas?" He handed us some paperwork and a pen.

"Please circle the reasons why you are here" he said not paying me much attention. I circled the 'bail' option and some other stuff then handed it in. "Through there." The receptionist pointed a lazy finger in the direction we needed to go to.

Lola was being escorted out a jail cell by a security guard "Omg, you guys are here!" She shouted enthusiastically at me and Ash.

"She may be hangover..." Ash whispered to me. I nodded and we took Lola from the security guard then started to walk out, on the way we checked everything was okay with the receptionist and gave them the bail money.

"I'll pay you back" Lola chuckled.

"Don't worry you don't have to" Lola gave us an extremely blank expression "we used your money to bail you out"

"Oh" Lola seemed still confused but I definitely had more questions for when she was sober again.

Me and Lola decided to go to her house for the night because her parents were still away but Ash went to his house so it was easier to get to school tomorrow. I quickly phoned my parents to tell them I'd be staying at a friends house - which of course they were fine with but they still seemed concerned.
