Chapter 28
The next day at school I was casually chatting with Marvin when Lola and Ash walked quickly towards us, but thats not the strange part, they were...holding hands. And trust me when I say this, it did not look romantic and relationshipy in any way. It looked awkward or something. I just couldn't put my finger on what it was."Hi Kriss," Lola chirped "Me and Ash are dating, just thought I'd keep you in the social circle. She spoke so fast I hardly caught the part where she said Ash's name, but when I realised what she'd said I felt a sinking feeling in my chest.
If only I'd ran a bit faster or left my house a bit sooner, I could've been the one with Ash right now instead of Lola...
Stop it, I told myself repeatedly. It was too late to worry now and I should be happy for Ash and Lola, they're my friends. Even though Lola had said they were dating when I talked to her on the phone I didn't really believe it until now, deep down I thought it was really happening as if it was some kind of joke or something.
I've known Lola for years and she's never had a series relationship before, this could be good for her, it is going to be good for her.
I opened my mouth and words started flowing out of it, I wasn't even sure what I said until after I'd finished speaking. But basically me and Marvin were...in a relationshih aswell. I think I even mentioned how we'd accidentally bumped into each other yesterday and thats how it started. Marvin nodded and went along with my lies, thankfully.
Once Ash and Lola had walked out of hearing distance I turned to Marvin desperately "I'm so sorry."
He shook his head understandingly at me "It's okay, I could tell you were under pressure." He paused "But why?"
I shook my head, what a mess I've made... "This is a long story, can we go somewhere more private?" Marvin nodded and I followed him into an empty class room. I sat down on a table and he took a chair from under a desk and sat on it backwards and wrapped his strong arms around it, the chair was plastic but seemed comfy enough. He rested his angelic head on the chair and then looked up at me with his multicoloured eyes that looked like crystals.
I knew I could trust him and tell him the whole story...every single last detail and I was sure he would be fine with it. "So to begin with, I had a crush on you for a short while." I cleared my throat nervously and probably turned a dark shade of red but Marvin nodded and I carried on with my story. "And at one point I thought you and Lola were having..uh...a secret relationshi-"
"What!?" Marvin cut in, shocked. "Me and Lola? Really, you've got to be kidding me! Why would you think that?"
"I know, I know, it was stupid but you and Lola kept staying and going to the hospital at the same time and more than once and neither of you wanted to talk about it, so I presumed something was going on between you two and it wasn't and I was just really confused. Not to forget I suspected the relationship after you and Gavin had kissed so I wasn't sure what was even happeneing anymore..."
"Well I'm actually not gay, I'm bisexual so your theory wasn't that wierd..." He trailed off and a few awkward seconds passed and we didn't say anything until he finally spoke up again. "Lola was at the hospital because she is working there part time and hopefully will become a doctor one day and I was there because-" He paused and I waited for him to continue, needing to know the reason why he was at the hospital so much.
He looked down and the floor and saddness was written across his face "...Because I was visiting my mom. She was in an accident eleven years ago so ever since I was six I've been going to see her." He looked back up at me and his crystal like eyes looked as if they were about to crack into a million pieces. But they didn't break because he has enough strength left to pull him self together again when he gets broken, you can tell he's been doing this all his life.
"I'm sorry."
He slowly nodded "It's fine. We should get back to your story and tell me what the hell is going on, please?" His lips formed a small sad smile.
I exhaled deeply and carried on with my story, hoping Marvin would understand and of course he did.
"So? What are we going to do about Ash?" He asked me, a quizzical look on his handsome face.
I grinned "We need a plan."

Marvin and I decided on getting the help of an absolute expert on our plan so we called Evie for some help. She came clean about helping Ash before and everything which didn't even make me mad. It made me realise how much I really like Ash.
Evie had already given us all the information we'd needed for the plan and unfortunately she had some other couple to work her match-making-cupid-magic over, so me and Marvin were left to carry out the plan ourselves.
Marvin's part of the plan was to find out if Ash and Lola were really dating, considering Ash had been pulling stunts and planing things with Evie to trick me on going on a date with him, we were pretty sure he liked me. But we couldn't be know for certain so Marvin was going to go and enquire them about it subtly, just incase Ash and Lola actually are dating...and if it turns out they are...well no ones thought ahead that far yet but I suppose I'll just have to forgot Ash like an old embarrassing memory.
