Chapter 24
I had walked quietly down my stair case, making sure not to wake my parents and then I had to go into the street to see what the hell Ash was doing at my house? I cocked an eyebrow at him "Why are you here Ash?""I just wanted to say like sorry for last night..." Ash diverted his big brown eyes and stared hard at the ground. For some reason I didn't say anything of the things I'd wanted to, instead I just stood there staring at Ash's guilty face. He looked back up from the grass and stared back at me. "I'm sorry I tried to kiss you last night," he continued "I should of realised you didn't like me like that..."
I cleared my throat awkwardly "You don't have to, um, apologise. It was just a, ur, mistake, right?" I asked.
"I guess." He half said, half whispered to himself.
"I mean, it's not like you still want to kiss me." I half heartedly laughed, I wasn't quite sure what Ash was thinking.
"Sure." The expression on his face guarded and unreadable. What was he hiding? "But just so we get one thing straight" he took a shakey breath "I never went out or liked Evie and the age difference is totally ew." He chuckled and I found myself joining in.
"Are we okay though? I mean are we still friends?" I asked, the answer to this question scared me so much; what if it was no, or worse?
"I don't think one night could ruin a great and strong friendship like ours...even if we've only been friends for two weeks." He laughed.
"Actually I think it's only been a week and a half!" I smiled and was happy this was all sorted out.
"But, Kriss...I-I do s-still um have f-feelings for you..." He trailed off and stared down at his shoes.
"Oh..." What was I supposed to say, he seemed really upset but how could
I help him? "Oh well, we're still great friends, right?"He looked up and managed a weak smile, then I did what I couldn't even imagine myself doing. I wrapped my arms around him and hugged him. We were around the same height, maybe he was a little taller but I'm not sure.
"Honey?" I heard my mum's voice from the doorway and immediately let go of Ash. He looked quite pale and - no way, it looked like he'd been crying! His eyes sparkled with tears but none were spilling over, his skin around his big puppy dog eyes was a redish pink. I could feel my own skin heavily blushing. "What are you doing out in the garden this time of the morning? It's only quarter to six and your in your in your dressing gown?" My mum wondered aloud.
- I actually found this chapter quite funny to write :") I hope you enjoyed, next chapter soon!
