Ash's POV
Chapter 22
We had talked for hours in the restaurant and I'm actually surprised the staff didn't kick us out we were there so long. We'd talked about shcool, and home, and the pretend guy who'd stood her up and how much of a jerk he was, I'm pretty sure there had been some flirting as well, so overall I think it was a great night."That was a wonderful date." Kriss smiled happily.
"What, did you think it was going to be a bad one?" I asked jokingly.
"If I answer honestly, at the beginning I thought it'd be awful but I suppose looks can be deceiving." I wasn't quite sure what to make of her answer so I didn't reply, we just walked in utter silence down the street, every so often our shoes would accidentally kick a rock across the path and create a skipping sound.
"Okay, I'm just around the corner. See you tomorrow." Kriss came to a halt and turned towards me, she was smiling at me. She was so beautiful, her eyes sparkled in the street light and her skin was slightly flushed.
"Tomorrow?" I enquired hopefully, were we going to go on another date that soon?
"Um, I don't know, maybe?" She answered "Anyway, I should probably-"
"Yea, see you around then." I interrupted her promptly. She nodded and turned away from me, I kinda wished we could talk longer. "Wait" I said urgently.
She turned back to me "What?" She said in her polite voice, it sounded as light as feathers. I took a step forward and started to lean closer, she seemed surprised but didn't say anything. She stared into my eyes and I stared back into her bright blue ones, I wanted to kiss her so, so much. I leaned in closer but Kriss put her finger on my lips.
"I can't." Kriss said, I pulled my arms back to my side and looked down at the floor. "I'm sorry, but I can't."
I furrowed my brow and looked back up at Kriss "Why?"
"I-It's just...um I mean...it's just that..." She trailed off, not meeting my gaze. Then she took a deep breath in and out "Okay, the reason why I won't kiss you is because you've been with so many other girls."
"What, like who?" Who on earth is she talking about?
"Well for starters Lola." How was I going to answer that?
"Are you kidding me? Lola, what we kissed one time but we were so drunk, it didn't mean anything." I was telling the truth, I bet Lola doesn't even remember it.
"Then how do I know that this will be any different?" She questioned. "How do I know you will even remember it?"
"Because I'm sober this time." Of course I would remeber if I kissed Kriss, I'd probably remember even if I was intoxicated!
"And it wouldn't be fair to Lola, would it?" She questioned but I knew she was not on the best terms with her so-called best friend right now.
"Look, If we'd kissed I would have remembered it forever because I'm sober and because I like you!" I blurted it out, damn it I never usually let stuff slip like that.
"Wha-You like me?" Oh no, oh no, where was this going? "I thought you liked Evie?"
"Evie? What the hell? No way." Why on earth would I like Evie?
"Whatever." She turned on her heel and walked away from me. Well, I'm guessing we will not be going on a date anytime soon...
