Construction sites in any settlement larger than a village are common these days. Ever since the emergence of quirks, there have been people who either inadvertently or on purpose cause property damage. Whether big or small, due to a villain attack or a freak accident, something is getting destroyed and someone has to fix it. Most of the time the government deal with it, although there are many private insurance firms that also offer services in this sort of business.
Usually such sites were closed off to the general, due to the small, insignificant reason of it being an incredibly dangerous place full of precariously balanced building materials and equipment. More so in cities, where everything tends to be bigger, bigger metal beams, large glass windows, endless metres of scaffolding. In other words, a nightmare to navigate. If confronted with the option to trespass onto an active rebuilding site, most people would respectfully decline with the assurance of their safety. You would too.
But not Misaki.
At least, not when it came to Hawks it seemed, which in your opinion was pretty ironic. One would expect her to be a little more cautious of her surroundings or be a little less prone to taking risks, considering she had to have multiple surgeries following the High End Nomu incident. Clearly, this girl had no fear, and for as much trouble it was giving you at this moment, in a way you had to respect it.
What trouble has it gotten you into? Well, incidentally your bird finding enthusiast friend had led you and Kirara into a large industrial construction space, complete with impossibly tall cranes, heavy looking metallic beams suspended in the air and an unfinished building foundation. For better or for worse, since it was the end of the work day, the place was completely empty. There wasn't a single builder or engineer around, not even an overworked manager going overtime. This meant that there was no one to stop your determined friend and her enabler from ducking under the black and yellow tape haphazardly closing the area off and use it as your personal shortcut.
"Girls please, this is far enough!" you pleaded, holding onto the tape, still on the other side, "If we don't turn back now we'll miss our train!"
"Just a bit further," Misaki said enthusiastically, taking the quick break as an opportunity to tie back her now slightly frizzy locks, "He was going in the direction of the Kumo shopping district. And we won't miss the train if we cut through here."
Your pleading eyes shifted to Kirara, but she just smirked, "There's still time y/n."
For a woman who notoriously loathed exercised she was surprising willing to keep going. It's no surprise that even though you'd been running for around 5 minutes or so, she was in the worst shape. There she stood beside Misaki, now discarding her coat even though it was freezing and securing her chic top bun, all the while panting heavily. By contrast, Misaki only seemed a little winded and you- although a tad sweaty- didn't feel warm enough to discard your winter coat.
"Misa, if he catches us here you'll get his signature in the form of the arrest report he'll file," you said with unsteady breaths, flapping the tape for emphasis, "Am I correct in assuming that trespassing on construction sites is illegal in this country?"
That was when Kirara finally seemed to second guess what we were doing; she flipped her grey coat over the right arm and said tiredly, "Hang on Misa, she has a point there. I'm not getting a criminal record over something like this."
"Haha what? You want to be arrested over something more exciting then?" you impulsively quipped.
Kirara shrugged and said with just as much snark, "If you're going to jail anyway, why not cause as much disruption as you can? I'm sure even the average person would-"
"No one's going to prison!" Misaki interrupted, "Look if we get caught I'll take the blame- but we won't, not if we're quick and if we hide under those beams."
