It turns out he was not ready for the tournament.

He actually managed to come in first during the first round after using the bombs on the field to put himself in first, oh how he knew he was going to get an earful from his dads about that one.

However, it's during the second match that Todorokis team manages to steal all of their points, leaving them with nothing when the buzzer sounds. He apologizes relentlessly to his teammates, though they are quick to reassure him that they knew the risks that came with being his teammate.

Tsu manages to distract him from the loss by playing the side games while they waited for the third and final round to begin.

The first matches are very uneventful, with Shoto, Kacchan, Yaoyorozu, Iida, and Kirishima winning in only a few minutes. Ibara from class 1B defeats Kaminari, and TetsuTetsu from 1B also makes it to the next round. Only one person from General Studies even qualified, and he's through to the next match as well.

Izuku and Uraraka watch anxiously in the stands at the next match ups, especially being unaware of the other classes quirks. Todoroki defeats Ibara with slightly more struggle than the match before and Izuku cheers loudly.

Shinso from General Studies wins against Ida, which feels like a swift kick to the gut seeing their class rep defeated. Kacchan beats Momo, and the fight between Kirishima and TetsuTetsu seems to last forever before the ginger comes out on top!

"LETS GO!!!" Izuku shouts excitedly before turning to Uraraka, "Three of the four quarter finalists are from our class!" He cheers proudly throwing a fist into the air.

Izuku feels himself get nervous as Bakugo prepares to fight Kirishima, mainly for Kirishimas sake. It was obvious the boy had feelings for his oblivious best friend, but in the end he had no reason to worry. They both have their all and Bakugo ended up winning the match by blasting him from the boundary lines.

Somethings wrong with Todoroki. Izuku can see it as he walks onto the field. He's tense, and scowling at the crowd before him. Izuku wonders if it had anything to do with Endeavor who he had seen going down the stairs after his last match.

Having seen his quirk, Shoto doesn't even let the boy speak. As soon as Ms. Midnight starts the match the boy is thrown back by an ice wall as big as the stands.

Izuku can see him looking at Midnight who stumbles over her words and she blows her whistle, declaring Todoroki the winner.

***********
Izuku knocks on the door to Todorokis locker room gently before entering. He sees the boy staring off into space, not even aware of his presence, "Hey, Sho?"

The boy doesn't even flinch. He takes a few steps into the room, "Hey, Todochan."

The boy glances up with a glare, though the different colored eyes lose their sharpness when he processes who it is, "Izuku," he says with a sigh.

Izuku sits next to him, moving his chair closer and placing his head on the boys shoulder, "I'm sorry I couldn't find you before the tournament began to wish you luck, but I've been cheering for you every match so far."

His voice is comforting, so much softer than his dads. Izuku grabs his hand and asks without moving his head, "Is everything alright?"

Shoto sighs, looking at the screens in the locker room to see they're still cleaning up the field after his match, "My dad... he's a dick."

Izuku nods, "Bio dads suck." Todoroki quickly agrees, "You don't have to talk about it if you don't want to- we can talk about something else if you'd like."

He cautiously lifts his hand to feel the boys curly hair. It's as soft as ever, "I thought," he starts, "I thought we were going to wait until after the festival."
