Adrian's POV
"Couch now." My mom snapped at me after we walked in the house. I sat down and she went in her room and I could hear her looking for something. I was texting Kendra to see if she was in trouble.
Bestie: How much trouble?
Me: Aside from cleaning all day today?
Bestie: yup
Me: TBD. You?
Bestie: My parents are pissed off. Even Carlos is pissed. He's siding with them.
Me: Yikes
Bestie: I get it though, now that my hangover is gone. Yeah, I should have talked you out of the party Adrian. That wasn't cool. You dad seemed pretty upset how messed up the house was
Me: He can pay to get it fixed
Bestie: Adrian? Do you really want to hurt him that bad?
Me: What?
Bestie: Last night when you were shitfaced you said that he should hurt like you? Why are you mad at him?
Me: I'm not
Bestie: Like hell you're not. Old Adrian would have never done something that stupid. Get drunk and throw a party. That's pre-CJ me, not you.
Me: You drunk too
Bestie: Nowhere near as much as you and I kept an eye on you the whole time. The party already started by the time I got there. I was trying to be a good friend.
Me: Whatever
Bestie: Whatever you're insisting upon holding against him you should let go. You can't expect that man to be perfect. Not to mention he does right by you and makes sure you're safe. You've gone from acting like a mini adult to a wild rich brat.
Me: That what you said I was now so why not act like it
Bestie: Because that's not who you are. It never was and never will be. You're not just making your life miserable now, you're making your whole family miserable and that's not right. I have to go.
I was about to throw my phone on the couch, but my mom took it out of my hand and put it in a box. "Since you want to act out and violate your father and my trust you lose some freedoms. You will be removed from dance until September. You will only have your phone when you are at school. You will only have access to your laptop with supervision. There is no more going out with friends. There is no more of this behavior. I am so disappointed in you. Why would you do that to your father and Nae? They trust you and allow you to have more freedoms than the average 16 year old because you've proven you can handle them and are responsible. Why would you go back on that? Why would you damage that? I get it you probably are still mad at your father and me for not being perfect, but why do this to Momma? That is her house too. You snuck out of her house and she was worried texting your father and I about you. She never did anything wrong and has been the perfect step mom to you, but your behavior is nothing short of disrespect towards her. I just don't know what to do with you Adrian." She flopped on the couch. "I'm just so disappointed in you right now. Go to your room. I'll call you when dinner is done." She placed her head in her hands. I heard her sniffling. I got up and went to my room. My mom's words hurt. I didn't want to upset her.

I was laying on the floor bored out of my mind in my room. Momma was at work getting ready for the school year, mom was working too, and since I'm still grounded from the party and anything fun was off the table for the next several weeks still. I had finished my chores, but there was nothing I could do. Nothing was on TV and since I'm home no phone and my laptop was in my dad's office. Even the littles were next door having a play date with Michelle and Aunt Rita. My door flew open and Zariah stormed in. "Hello to you too." I smiled happy for company.
"What the hell is your problem lately?" She snapped.
"Nothing." I looked at her confused.
"Nothing? Are you kidding me? You threw a part and destroyed my aunt and uncle's house? Why?" Why was she mad?
"It was just a party." I laughed a shrugged it off.
"Do you know how stupid you are for doing that? Do you know who you are?" She yelled.
    "What's your problem?"
"You are! You have been given the life you always wanted and because you find out your dad isn't perfect and you throw a damn tantrum."
"He left!" I stood up and walked over to her.
"He came back!" She stated the obvious.
"The last person who said he'd be there for me left me."
"Who Adrian, because you need to take your abandonment issues out on them."
"Well Uncle Bobby is dead so." I rolled my eyes.
"You're taking your anger out on Uncle Roman because you feel like Uncle Bobby abandoned you?" She laughed but her anger was obviously burning in her eyes.
    "He did!"
"You must forget he was mine uncle too! Long before he was yours! You can't pull that card on me Adrian! I got that card, dead Uncle Angelo card, my dead Nonno card, and my dead mom card so you learn to deal with it! People die Adrian. That's what happens in this family."
"Well maybe if we weren't a mob family." I mumbled.
"Well this has been a mom family for centuries it doesn't just stop just because poor little new Marchetti Adrian wants her uncle and daddy  to be here forever just for her. Boo fucking hoo."
    "You know?" I said stunned.
"Of course I know who we are! I am the fucking heir you think I don't know who my father is? I've known for years."
"You don't understand." I got up and crossed my arms.
"I don't understand having people in my life that I was close to that loved me as much as I love going poof gone? I don't understand? You listen here because obviously my uncle Roman has let you slide and get away with shit. Don't forget you just been around for not even 3 years yet." She snapped causing me to step back, but she kept coming towards me. "You are still learning this family." I stumbled back into the chair and she caged me in. "You are acting like a spoiled brat and it's honestly getting on my nerves. I get it, it's exciting having a dad you didn't have him growing up, but you don't get to abuse him because of it. He lets you get away with a ton that he knows he wouldn't get away with, I know I would never get away with, and I know damn well Eva and Tati will never get away with. Your mom took over punishment because he didn't want you even madder at him. You messed up. You are disrespecting him."
    "He left."
"My dad used to leave to, but I knew he'd come back! He has never given you a reason not to trust him yet you start now! He left for a reason and instead of being concerned about him you are throwing a tantrum because he wasn't doing something you wanted? You must have forgotten you weren't the one that was supposed to die. That shit is a lot to deal with and he probably is still processing. Your life isn't the only one that has been changing Adrian. Let's put things into perspective. He and his wife finally have a baby after years of wanting one. His wife nearly dies after giving birth. I don't know about you, but that seems pretty traumatic to me. Then they have severe marriage problems. In the mix of a new baby and marital problem a whole child is dropped into his lap. He could have easily said you weren't his problem and brushed you off, but he dove in head first. This man went from just a wife to a wife and two kids. One baby is a huge change, but a teenager is an even bigger one. This man was fighting wars to protect you behind the scenes because from the moment he laid eyes on you he loved you more than you even fucking know. Then he finds out how much trauma you went through and did everything in his power to protect you and get you the help you needed. This is all within 6 months! Then saves your life and nearly dies. Then he wakes up and is disabled for a long time. You should be getting the picture. This man has to balance a wife, 3 children, his entire family's livelihood, multiple businesses, and God knows what else. He puts himself last after everyone else. Shit everything probably caught up to him and he needed to remove himself for the better. I don't know but you decided to act like nobody had ever loved you!" She goes in her purse and pulls out this glass trophy looking thing that was broken. "Do you know what this is?"
"No, looks like trash to me." I just stared at it.
"This is what you allowed your friend's to break at my Uncle and Aunt's house. Do you know how much that meant to your dad? Everything. It was a gift from Uncle Bobby to him for graduating high school. It was a custom made soccer trophy for him being top on the country by 14. This can't be replaced. This was something he treasured and if someone so much as looked at it he would get mad because his brother gave that to him. You broke it and there's nothing that can be done about it. Those chairs and dinning set you damaged-"
"Can be replaced they're a dime a dozen." I interrupted.
"No, they're not. That was custom made special for Uncle Roman and Auntie Nae. Her family gifted them it. It literally had their names hand carved into it. Her grandfather made it and he passed away not long after they moved into their home. I was there when it got delivered and set up. That was the first thing that solidified that they were merging their lives together. You have no clue how many family dinners we had there at that very table!"
"If it meant so much why was the house abandoned huh?" I snapped.
"Because Uncle Angelo was killed in it you selfish bitch! He was murdered and Aunt Nae was pregnant with Eva at the time and could have died too! It was left untouched because they couldn't live and start their family in a house where that happened. You are just so involved with yourself you have never cared to even learn about this family aside from surface level shit. You claim to be so hurt about Uncle Bobby, but not once did you care to get to know his family that accepted you no questions asked. You literally got the best case scenario for a family, but I don't even think you deserve it. You could have easily been shunned and pushed far away, not no instead you throw a tantrum the first time your dad messes up. You need a reality check. You can be as self-destructive as you want to be, but you will not hurt my Aunt or my Uncle while doing it. You're my cousin and I love you, but I'll be damned if you hurt my family." She pushed of the chair and walked out of my room. I had only seen her this angry once and that was when Mason and Tanner's dad crossed a line. Her turning that towards me was different. I just sat in the chair and soaked in what she said to me.
