Roman's POV
I walked in the house to look for my father. I made sure to stop by because I knew he was going to the doctor today to be completely examined to see what was going on and if we needed to be worried or if he has just had too much alone time. I found him in my room looking around holding a baby picture of me. I just watched him for a second. I knew he knew I was hear. This man always knew which one of us it was based upon our footsteps since we were kids. Even once we got better of walking softly though the house, he knew. "It's your room, why don't you come in?" He chuckled at me.
"What are you doing in here?" I questioned.
"Can we talk? I know you don't like me very much." He looked at me then the picture again.
"Who said that?" I leaned on the door jam.
"Common sense and you few times." He patted my bed next to him for me to sit.
"Where's mom? She should be here." I sat in the chair in the corner across from him. Mom said she was moving back in to help take care of dad even though we were all against that idea and was fine shipping him to Italy where his family could take care of him or pawn him on his siblings. "Did she go to the store?"
"Yeah." He nodded. "I should have told you about your biological mother sooner. I just never thought we'd cross paths again so didn't think I had to worry." Mom must have told him I knew.
"You cheated on my mom, got Olivia pregnant, abducted her for months, left her children with their abusive father, killed the other baby that mom carried, and then just threw Olivia away after giving birth, and kept me. I've done some fucked up things, but that is absolutely fucked even for you."
"You were always going to be kept. You are my son. You were going to live with us no matter what. I never anticipated Junior dying."
"In keeping Olivia away from her kids you created two monsters. One who was a child predator and hurt my own child, my younger sister I guess that's what she is to me, killed three of your unborn grandchildren, killed Bobby, Angelo, D, injured Janae, tried to kill Adrian and I, and wreaked all type of havoc because you killed their father. The parent that they were trauma bonded fueled their hate. You couldn't keep your dick in your pants, so everyone paid the price. The craziest part about this is my two oldest brother hated me so much they killed two of my older brothers who I in turned killed one who murdered my other murderous brother's kids that led to his wife's death. It is essentially brothers hurting brother because our fathers were shitty men." I leaned on my knees. "That's a lot of bodies."
"What happened to the other one?" He looked thoughtfully at me.
"He's vanished. Now I get to spend the rest of my days looking over my shoulder."
"I am so sorry Roman. I never wanted this for you. I never wanted this for any of you." He shook his head and got this glazed look in his eyes. It's like he was looking at me and wasn't at the same time. "I want to hug you. Every time I see you I want to hug you. I want to hold you and go back in time to do everything over. To be who you wanted and needed me. You made my Angelina happy. You brought happiness into her heart on her darkest hour. I love you so much my son." He go up and held my face. "Our sweet boy." He walked out and I felt my hands shaking. I needed to leave. I couldn't be here anymore. There was so much my head wasn't comprehending about his current state of mind. I rushed downstairs just as my mom walked in the door and straight into her arms. "Oh my sweet boy what's wrong?" She held me dropping the pharmacy bag that she held. "You and your brother are letting me hold you more these days. For two men who claim to hate that man upstairs, both your hearts are breaking knowing what's to come." She stroked me back. "I will tell you what I told my sunshine, deep down you still love him. Take this time to find the peace you need before you need to find closure. He will be on medication that should slow the progression, but the changes that have already occurred like personality are here to stay. Think of this as our second chance."
