Finnlay's POV

After kissing Bree's stomach I took her hand in mine and stood by her head. When the doctor came in I began to shuffle on my feet and squeezed her hand. "Bree welcome back. Usually we don't do them this quickly." The doctor gave her a warm smile and put on her gloves. She looked up at me and then to Bree. "Is this the father?"

"Yes this is him." Bree squeezed my hand this time. This is the first we've been referenced as mother and father. Kind of a huge shock to the system.

"Well father, mother is about fifteen weeks. Usually we tell the gender around week 18. So we'll have you back when you are at 21 weeks so we can let you know or you can keep it a secret-- whichever you choose."

"Okay great." I brought Bree's hand up to kiss as the doctor put the gel on her and began the ultrasound. I soon heard the whoosh Bree mentioned and watched as our baby moved onto the screen.

"Wow." I whispered with Bree's hand still pressed against my lips. Bree looked up to me and gave me a smile. I smiled back and watched as the doctor moved around.

"Bree, you are looking good. Any questions or concerns? Anything I should know from week 12 to now?" The doctor finished the ultrasound leaving the screen up for me to look at while Bree talked to the doctor. The baby is small, yes. However, that's our baby there. Growing. Day by day.

"Any questions from the father?" I looked away from the screen and shook my head. "Okay great. Well Bree we will see you in six weeks. So that's about October... eh actually the end of September. Here's your appointment card for then."

Walking out of the hospital with Bree I wrapped my arm around her shoulders and pulled her into my embrace. "That was something else."

"Mhm it is."

"I mean... wow." Bree giggled as we approached my dad's old truck. When we got in, Bree did her thing and scooted all the way beside me. Resting her head on my shoulder and her hand on my thigh I knew this was it. This is the way my life should be. With her.

Bree has been napping so I called up Hitch. He is the only one on the team right now that knows I'm expecting. That's because he trusted me last year to keep his secret of getting his fuck buddy pregnant. "Yo Geraldi what is up?"

"Hitch, I got a question for you about you becoming a father."

"Like what exactly."

"Well how do you do the living situation and what not." I know I could ask Eddie or Naomi this, but Bree doesn't want to tell anyone just yet. I put Hitch on speakerphone while I began fixing up the spare room. We need to turn this place into a baby's room somehow. I know it will be our fall and winter home until we go back to San Diego to live, but still the place needs to be fixed up.

"I mean me and my baby mama have a different situation than you do, but basically I got her down here in a condo. I usually go over on our days off and sometimes during the early games they come over for dinner. My lil' man has no idea how much I'm gone for. I mean when we travel, because he's so young, she doesn't want to come with us. But again she's just my baby mama to put it lightly. I love my kid, but I don't have to make it work with her. She does most of the work though, so whenever I can help out I try to put 200% in because she does it all. I mean what you have to look at is what your baby mama is doing with her life. You can't just leave her high and dry. Find a way to get them close to your baseball life. Live in San Diego, if you two gotta move, she's got to come with you... You know?"

"Yeah I guess..." I picked up an old box full of my mom's clothes and set it in the hallway. "I guess I don't know what to do because I don't want them alone. I'd like them with me but sometimes that doesn't -- shit is this coming out right?"

"No." I turned quickly to see Bree in the doorway in my Padres sweatshirt and a pair of shorts.

"Hitch gotta go."

I hung up on him and turned to Bree. I walked to her but she stared daggers in me. "Baby mama?"

"No no... Bree that was Hitch. You know Hitch? One of our pitchers?" Bree's angry brown eyes started me down and I sighed. "He had a kid last year and confided in me first. I confided in him last week when he asked why I was so off my game. Nerves. I am so fucking nervous right now. So I asked Hitch how he makes it work, because if he can make it work then I'm sure I can find out how to get you to travel but I should have just asked Eddie, but you didn't want to tell anyone and--"

"Okay okay..." Bree said coming into the room and cupping my face. "Breathe Fin." I did as she said and she rubbed her thumbs gently across my cheeks in comfort. "I get it, wrong person to ask but the right inquiries." I wrapped my arms around her waist and she rested her cheek against my chest. "I have the same thoughts. How will we keep a well balanced family with your travels?"

"I think Eddie has the answers."

"And Naomi..." Bree pulled back and looked up to me. "We need to spill the beans."

I laughed loudly at that and wrapped her back into my arms. "Along with how we're the new neighbors. We got a lot to spill."
