Chapter 5

One thing I hated more than being pitied was when people eavesdropped on personal conversations, I let it go my head was still against Camilo's he didn't let go his breath filled my ears it soothed me I couldn't understand why but it did, I smiled this one didn't feel like the fake ones I've put on before but I actually felt happy. A second later I felt him move his hand into mine I hadn't realized I was still shaking he looked at me our foreheads still connected.

"Y/n you're ok" he squeezed my hand tight my smile only grew I pulled my head away "I'm ok now Camilo" I said I could feel my smile still on my face he looked at me with his shimmering green eyes I could stare at them forever but I quickly looked away my face felt warm as I turned to look at him I paused when I saw Lee and Antonio playing in the road seeing Pepa and Felix next to them I looked back at Camilo and flicked him right in between the eyes "Hey! What was that for?" He said "for looking like a puppy" I said his eyes didn't leave my face and I smiled internally

A few more hours had passed before I caught a glimpse of abuelo and Kaytlyn I point it out to Camilo and he nodded grabbing my hand we continued to walk towards them I tried to stop him but he didn't stop "trust me? Please" his voice was sweet no signs of him lying like whatever's about to happen bad or good he was going to protect me "ok" I said we get really close and I saw the Kaytlyn spotted me and pointed me out to Abuelo we were a few feet from them anxiety grew in the pit of my stomach and I gripped Camilo's hand harder I whispered to him "I'm scared" I said he looked down and smiled at me.

Suddenly Abuelo was standing in the walk way "where have you been?" He asked his voice stern I looked at Camilo "she's been with me" he says in return "sorry Madrigal but I wasn't asking you, don't answer questions that aren't meant for you" he said his voice had a hint of anger just from holding Camilo's hand I could tell he was shaking with anger but he didn't let that show in his voice "respectfully I don't care who you were talking to" I nudged him to tell him to stop "y/n, you will go straight home after your done hanging out with camilo and you will meet me in your room" he said I was shaking but camilo quickly dragged me away from him and we turned a corner and he let go of my hand and planted them next to my head on the building behind me

"I'm taking your place" he said and I shook my head "no I'll only get in more trouble if he finds out" I said looking down "then I'm going home with you" he said he was really trying to prevent the inevitable "Camilo as soon as you leave he'll hurt me" I look at him and then move a piece of hair that made its way to his face "but..." he said his voice had sadness coating it I know he didn't want me hurt and I know he wanted to stick up for me "Camilo if you do anything like that again he won't let me see you again" I said he looked at me his eye full of sadness

"Damn it" he said I looked at him and put my hand on his cheek "hey pretty boy I'll be fine" I said "let's hope it's just a warning" I say trying to brighten the mood his face only leaned into my hand like how a cat rubs it's face on things to scratch "I don't want you hurt" he said I know I've only know him a whole day but I wanted to just kiss his face all over to see if it's make him feel better suddenly as if he read my mind his face got closer to mine and my breath hitched "you have freckles like me he said and I nodded he moved his face away again and I let out the breath thankful I could breathe

Then his face go closer to mine again and he brushed a piece of hair from my face and moved closer and then put his head into the crook of my neck "Camilo?" He moved his head back up and smiled "yes Hermosa?" He said I laughed and pushed him off "awww I was comfortable" he said smiling but I couldn't hear him over my laughter I looked back up and he was smiling and boy did he have a good smile, "your smile is beautiful" I say and then quickly cover my mouth "oh really~" he said his cocky tone made me blush as his face got closer to mine

He moved to my ear and whispered "I think yours is prettier~" my heart was pounding it felt like I was gonna melt, my hands still covering my mouth "awe your face is redder than a tomato I wish I had a camera with me" he said I moved my hands from my face "gee thanks Camilo" I said trying to sound confident in my words but it clearly failed he smiled more "I'm going to ditch you if you keep this up" I threatened his cocky smile quickly turned to a frown and he looked at me "no I'm sorry" he said I laugh as I start walking out from between the houses "y/nnnnnnn, waittttt" he said running to catch up I smile at him as he walks me home "can you bring Lee home in a couple hours I don't want him home Just in case this isn't a warning" I said his eyes got sad again but nodded he knew that he couldn't defend me and I think it scared him "hey, if it's just a warning I'll come get him myself if not and I'm not there in and hour then bring him home ok?" I ask putting my hand on his cheek again he nodded then took something out of his pocket "we made this for you last night, me and Lee" he said handing me a necklace it had a Chamaeleon engraved in it with a tiny finger print "I love it" I say and put it on "I'm glad I'll see you soon stay safe" he said and I smile and nodded "see you soon"
