Back up plan

I gave you a thousand warnings

Then forgave you every morning

But you just don't learn

Change for a second and then turn

Back to what you used to be

How many times do you want to hurt me

If anyone can come between us

Is it even friendship or am I just

The back up plan that never leaves

One that wipes your tears with their sleeves

Whenever your preferred friends hurt you

I like you but I really don't want to

I'm sick of you, I'm sick of this

Every time I talk I'm dismissed

Your sweet words won't affect me anymore

My anger has spread to my very core

Didn't even bother to ask why I wasn't there

You proved to me that you don't care

Don't apologize now, I know it's a lie

Save your time, don't even try

I wrote this poem for a friend who told me I was the most amazing friend they had, only to completely ignore me whenever others got involved. I gave them many chances to balance their attention, I forgave them many times, but I soon realized I only there for when they needed to vent their feelings to someone. They told me all about this other group of friends, but never bothered introducing me into the group, or even letting them know what my name was.  To anyone in a similar situation, do what's best for you. You should be your topmost priority. Give back what you get. If you get love and support, give that back. If you get only negativity, then you give it right back. And if you get nothing, that's exactly what you'll give back.

P.S. Please vote and comment!
