Longing glances from across the room
The gorgeous way your smile bloomed
When I laughed at your joke and our eyes met
It is all so difficult to forget
But we never did swap phone numbers
I never saw you again after that summer
But I just can't stop thinking about you
I wonder, everyday, do you think about me too?
Sitting in the seat right beside the other
Every time our hands brushed, our hearts would flutter
I won't find something like that again
And I hate to think all of it was in vain
At times, random whispers of you float by from old friends
If I find you again, could we make amends?
Would it be amazing or would it never compare
To our secret little high-school love affair?

This poem is a story that played out in front of my eyes. Two people who loved each other, and showed it in whatever ways they could, but never told each other about their feelings. They'll forever remain a 'What if' for the other. Perhaps they should've taken more concrete steps toward what they wanted, or maybe it's best to admire from afar, and never get close enough to see any flaws. But there is no point in contemplating about it once it's gone.
