Everyday a student dies
Drowning in a sea of lies
Told the only way to be
Is 'all subjects, at least ninety'
Dreams and passions are crushed
Any tears or screams are shushed
Only thing that matters is your score
Parents say 'Only ninety? It should be more!'
Everyday a student dies
For help they gave many cries
But others were too busy criticizing
How "little" they were studying
What else do you even expect
Forcing them to go medical or tech
No wonder the suicide rates are so high
They see no solution than to say goodbye
Everyday a student dies
Tired of keeping up a guise
That they're okay, they're well
Ask them, they'll tell you their life is hell

Most students complain about school, and the school system. Most of the times it's just shrugged off as teenagers being teenagers, ungrateful and grumbling about everything. But...I think adults really need to listen to us. The rates of student depression, anxiety, and suicides are way too high to turn a blind eye to them. All voices need to be heard, cause sometimes it's not a grumbly teenager, but someone hanging by their last thread. All this competition and comparison can't possibly be good for anyone. No one says that your worth is determined by your grades, but they sure as hell do imply it. My parents let me pursue what I want to, but this isn't the case for 90% of my peers. I have classmates that struggle with depression and other mental disorders, and some have even attempted suicide. Thankfully they weren't successful but, is your child's will to live really worth those A grades?
With love,
Loonazure
