Remember many months ago, when I told you
That I'd have dinner with your parents, only to
Cancel plans last minute, and then skip town
Oh, remember the first time I let you down?
Remember many months later, in October gray
Your friends were celebrating, but I forgot your birthday
That day, nobody could wipe off your frown
Remember the second time I let you down?
I never really wanted it, I was always so unsure
But I still got on one knee and you gave me a smile so pure
And today, you're waiting in your white gown
And it'll be the last time I let you down

This is written from the perspective of someone who was constantly on the verge of leaving, but just couldn't. And yet they didn't give the relationship their best, in fact they constantly let their significant other down. Then they proposed due to pressure from the people around, only to get cold feet just before the wedding. And it was the last time they let their significant other down.
