Speak Now (A Rhett and Link Fanfic)

Visiting Someone Special

Sophie gets out of bed the next morning and gets dressed. She eats her breakfast and gets a call from Link.

"Hello?" Says Sophie.

"Hey Soph!" Says Link.

"Hey."

"I was wondering, if you and Lizzy wanted to come to the beach later with me and Rhett?"

"Sure! I'm going to see someone important right now."

"Cool! Mind if I come with?"

"Not at all! Just meet me at the cemetery in 5 minutes."

"Okay, bye."

"Bye."

Sophie puts on her shoes and gets into her car. She drives to the cemetery. She arrives and gets out of her car. She walks through the tombstones with a bunch of fake flowers to a tombstone with the name reading "Nick Chevalier" Death at age 24. Brother and son.

Sophie puts her hand on the tombstone where his name is. A tear runs down her cheek.

Link comes running to the tombstone and sees Sophie crying.

"Hey. Is this-" says Link.

"My older brother, Nick. He was in the military. He died when I was in 8th grade. I was upset almost every day when I was told. I didn't tell anyone at school why I was upset. Even my best friends. I didn't want them to overreact and comfort me constantly." Says Sophie as she wipes away a tear.

"Why is his last name different?" Asks Link sadly.

"He had to spend most of his life in France before they fought. They had to change their last names so they wouldn't be killed for being American. He is still a Bellerose... To me anyways."

"Oh. W-why didn't you ever tell me about this?" Asks Link.

"I just didn't w-want you to worry about me."

Sophie puts her hand on the tombstone again and sets the flowers down in front of it. She looks up at the sky as a tear runs down her face.

"H-hey big brother. I want you to meet my boyfriend Link." Says Sophie.

"H-hi Nick. You seem like a super awesome brother. Don't worry, I'll take good care of Sophie. I'll take good care of her and keep her safe." Says Link to the sky.

"Don't worry about me Nick. I'm coming when I'm ready. But for now, I'll be here. I love you Nick. The best older brother ever. I miss you." Says Sophie.

"I hope I get to meet you someday Nick. Don't worry about your little sister. I'll love her and keep her safe."
Link puts his arm around Sophie and they walk to their cars. Sophie, in tears. And Link, trying to stop crying.
