Heartache

Sophie balls out crying into her palms. She crouches onto the ground, crying and lies on her back.

Pete walks up to her and whimpers. He lays his head on Sophie's stomach.

Sophie sits up and hugs Pete softly, still crying.

She sniffs.

"Hello Pete." Says Sophie in tears.

Pete rubs his head on her arm.

*2 hours later*

Rhett knocks on Sophies dorm door and then opens the unlocked door.

"Sophie?" Calls Rhett walking inside.

"What do you want?" Asks Sophie with mascara streaming down her face.

"I came to see you." Says Rhett. He sits down next to her and forces a slight smile.

"W-Why?" Asks Sophie.

"Because you're my best friend, and I want to be here for you..." Says Rhett.

"Thank you Rhett..." says Sophie as a tear runs down her cheek.

Rhett looks into her eyes deeply.

Rhett quickly goes in to kiss her. He grabs her hand and kisses her.

Sophie runs her fingers through his soft hair and then opens her eyes.

She stops and pushes him away.

"Rhett! What are you doing?!" Yells Sophie.

"I got so carried away. I'm so sorry..." says Rhett as he looks down sadly.

Sophie puts her hand lightly on Rhett's cheek and brings him into a hug.

Rhett hugs her back and smiles.

They let go and Rhett says,"Bye Sophie." As he walks out the door.

Sophie looks through her photos on her phone. She sees a picture of her and Link and starts crying again.

She walks into the kitchen and grabs the large knife. She gets ready to cut her wrist, but then thinks how God loves her so much. She puts the knife back and walks towards the door with Pete.

"C'mon boy." Says Sophie. Pete runs to her and they walk out the door and through the halls. She finally makes it outside to yard. She pulls a dog toy out of her pocket.

She throws it to him and he catches it in his mouth. He brings it back to her and Sophie smiles.

"Good boy!" Says Sophie.

She looks up and sees Lizzy.

"Lizzy!" Sophie shouts towards Lizzy.

"Sophie!" Shouts Lizzy as she runs over to Sophie and Pete.

She hugs Sophie and smiles.

"Good to see you again!" Says Sophie.

They stop hugging and Sophie sees a girl about Sophie's height with dirty blonde hair and glasses walking towards them in the distance.

She finally reaches them and says,"Hey Lizzy!"

"Hi! I'm Sophie Bellerose!" Says Sophie smiling.

"Nice to meet you! I'm Cleo James!" Says Cleo.

"Wait..." Says Cleo looking deeply into Sophie's eyes. "Sophie Renee Bellerose?"

"Sophie!!" Exclaims Cleo. She hugs Sophie tightly and a tear runs down her face.

"I've missed you so much Soph!! I haven't seen you since senior year of high school! How have you been?" Asks Cleo.

"Cleo!! Oh my gosh, it's been years!!" Exclaims Sophie.

"I know!! Any relationships I should know about?" Asks Cleo.

Sophie's smile fades into a frown and a tear runs down her cheek.

She starts balling out crying like a little kid into her hands.

"Sophie. What's wrong?" Asks Cleo.

Lizzy side-hugs Sophie and says,"You can tell us." calmly.

"Link w-was with another girl behind m-my back..." Stutters Sophie in tears.

Cleo gasps.

"Oh my gosh." Says Lizzy letting go of Sophie.

"That little son of a-" Lizzy shouts.

Cleo covers Lizzy's mouth before she says any more.

"I'm really sorry Soph. Is there anyone else that you might like?" Asks Cleo.

"Well... Rhett is pretty cute." Says Sophie.

"Yes, he is. Rhett talked to me the other day saying that he didn't want to tell you that he liked you because he didn't want to ruin your guys's friendship." Says Cleo.

"Maybe I'll go talk to him." Says Sophie.

"C'mon Pete." Says Sophie walking towards her car.

"Bye guys!" Says Sophie before she waves goodbye to her friends.

"Bye!" Says Cleo and Lizzy.

Sophie gets into her car with Pete and drives to Rhett's apartment.

She parks in front of his apartment and gets out of the car.
