Speak Now (A Rhett and Link Fanfic)

Nothing Lasts Forever

Sophie arrives back home and is greeted by Lizzy and Pete.

She hesitates to tell her the whole story.

Lizzy leaves to go to a friend's house and Sophie is left alone with Pete.

Sophie pulls out her phone and calls Rhett.

"Hey Soph." Says Rhett.

"Can you come over?" Asks Sophie.

"Sure." Says Rhett.

"Bye." Says Sophie.

"Bye."

Sophie hangs up and waits for Rhett.

10 MINUTES LATER...

Sophie hears a knock at her door. She gets up and opens the door.

"Hey Rhett." Says Sophie.

"Hey." Says Rhett.

"Come in." Says Sophie.

Rhett walks inside and Sophie closes the door.

He's so tall and handsome as hell... Thinks Sophie.

They both sit down on the couch and Pete comes running in.

Rhett pets Pete and smiles.

"I need to tell you something." Says Sophie.

"Okay." Says Rhett.

"So we were in New York and yesterday was our last dance recital."

"How'd the recital go?" Asks Rhett.

"Pretty well. It was a lot of fun." Says Sophie.

"Well, after the recital, I saw Link. He came to see me dance. We walked out of the auditorium; we took the long way, through the alley... Well, this guy pulled me away from Link and had a knife to my throat."

Rhett's jaw drops.

"Link found me and the guy cut my throat."

"Oh my gosh." Says Rhett.

"I was on the ground coughing. It seemed like I was stuck there... Another other guy pulled out his gun..."

A tear runs down Sophie's cheek.

"Link ran the other way and left me there on the ground... The guy pointed his gun Link's way and then pointed t-the gun towards me. He shot me in the leg and ran off.

Rhett covers his mouth.

"Link c-came back and tried to help me but fainted." Says Sophie, full out crying now.

She pulls up her leggings leg and shows Rhett the stitches where the bullet hole was.

"Oh gosh." Says Rhett. "Oh my gosh!"

He then sees the cuts on her wrists.

"Sophie... You cut again?" Asks Rhett holding her wrist lightly.

Sophie sighs.

"I can't go back to Link again... He ran and left me there to die." Says Sophie.

"I'm so sorry." Says Rhett hugging Sophie.

"Thanks for being here for me Rhett. You're my best friend." Says Sophie.

"You're mine too." Says Rhett.

Sophie stops hugging him and looks into Rhett's eyes.

"I..." Sophie pauses,"I love you Rhett."

Rhett forces a smile.

"I love you Sophie." Says Rhett.

Sophie slightly smiles and gives him a quick kiss to the cheek.

Rhett smiles and grabs Sophie's hand.

Sophie lets out a relaxed sigh.

Rhett runs his hand over her cuts on her wrist.

"I'll never make you feel this way..." Says Rhett.
