3 Days Later
Sophie sits in her bed with a notebook and pen in hand.
"It's my fault. They were just innocent boys looking for a normal girl. They got a dysfunctional one." Says Sophie.
"It's not your fault, Sophie. Let's make a list of pro's and con's about each ." Says Lizzy. "I'll help you."
"Fine." Says Sophie.
She writes Kevin's name at the top of the paper. She writes the word 'pro's' underneath it.
"Let's start with Kevin." Says Sophie.
"Let's do it." Says Lizzy.
"Well, he's obviously hot as fuck." Says Sophie.
"Mmmmhmmmm." Lizzy agrees.
"He's amazing at basketball. Um, he's flirtatious. He's caring... Anything else?" Says Sophie writing.
Lizzy shakes her head.
Sophie writes 'con's' next to the pro's.
"Okay... Con's." Says Sophie writing. "High maintenance. He's arrogant. He's dangerous. He's... a douchebag. An asshole. A player. Fuckboy... A cheater."
"Okay. Now Rhett." Says Lizzy.
Sophie writes Rhett's name down underneath Kevin's.
"Pro's, uh... He's incredibly sweet. Gives off a lot of sex appeal." Sophie giggles and writes. "Tall, obviously. Very attractive. Amazing with a guitar. Childhood best friend."
"Alright."
"Con's... Cocky, likes to make people jealous, overly confident, knows what he wants and gets it, demanding... Also a cheater." Sophie says while writing.
Sophie stops and stares at the paper, then glances up at Lizzy.
"What are you waiting on?" Asks Lizzy.
"What do you mean?" Says Sophie.
"Write Link's name."
Sophie sighs and writes his name.
"Pro's..."
Sophie pauses.
"I'll start." Says Lizzy. "He's naive."
"Yeah. He's a little angel. He's a total sweetheart. He's shy, charming, flirty, responsible, meek, humble. He's so handsome and sophisticated." Sophie says and writes.
"Cons... He's very easily jealous. He's posessive of me. He's arrogant and afraid of commitment. He's a coward. He's a wimp. He's clingy. Also... a cheater." Says Sophie writing.
"They all have one thing in common... They all passed up the chance to date the prettiest, smartest, and sweetest girl on the planet." Says Lizzy smiling.
Sophie looks up at Lizzy and forces a tiny smile.
"Sophie, I'm serious. Any guy would love to be with you."
"I think I just need to stop relationships for a while. I always felt like I needed a boyfriend all the time, but it only made me unhappier in the end."
"Well, whatever you're going to do, I'm always going to be here for you. You're my best friend and I want you to know that I love you to death."
"I love you too. I'm so glad you're here to support me through all of this shit, even when I'm being rude and bitchy."
"Of course. I'll continue to support you through this rough patch in your life. You're going through so much shit right now and I need you to be strong. You need to keep holding on. I'll always be here for you."
"You're still going to the therapist with me tomorrow right?" Asks Sophie.
"Of course. How's your depression been treating you? Shitty?"
"Yeah. How's your anxiety? Are you getting better?" Asks Sophie.
"Yeah. I've been getting a lot better since I've been going to therapy."
"That's good to hear." Says Sophie. "I really hope therapy helps... I don't want any of you guys to be scared for me."
"I'm so sorry you're feeling this way. I don't even have a clue of what it's like to hate myself. How long have you struggled with depression? If you don't mind me asking."
"Oh it's fine... It definitely started in 8th grade, with my brother passing and all that. I began to think that it was my fault. I started cutting in the summer of 8th grade. I told myself 'never again', but that didn't last long. When I moved to Paris, I cut again and everything just came back from there."
Sophie sighs.
"Wow. I'm so sorry."
"I'm just glad I had you in my life to help me get through the tough times. Even when I shut you out, you still came over and listened to me... Thank you."
Meanwhile...
"I'm scared for her..." Says Rhett.
Link stares at the floor, his elbows resting on his knees.
"I just hope she doesn't hurt herself again."
"How do you think I feel? I'm the reason she did that." Says Link. "She tried to take her own life because of me."
"I know. I know... I have no idea how you feel. It must be incredibly hard for you... seeing her in a suicidal state like this."
Link sighs and puts his face into his hands.
"It's the scariest thing ever." Says Link. "I mean, what'll she do next? Jump off a bridge? Hang herself in the park?"
"Don't say that." Says Rhett shivering; chills running up his spine. "We need to help her."
"I just don't know if I can bring myself to see her. I love her, but she doesn't love me back."
"Are you kidding Link? You were her first boyfriend. She loved you more than any girl ever could've loved a boy."
"That doesn't mean anything. I cheated on her. I broke her trust she had for me."
"We all did. If she really still loves you, she'll forgive you. Trust me."
"I don't think she does." Says Link staring at the ceiling.
"Text her."
"Are you crazy?" Says Link glancing at Rhett.
"I'm serious. Text her."
"But why should I-"
"Link. Just do it."
"Alright."
Link picks up his phone and sees that Sophie is already typing a message. The three typing dots disappear. He texts her and bites his lip in nervousness.
Link: We should talk.
Sophie: Don't text me anymore.
Link: I need to talk to you.
Sophie: Please, just please don't text me."Oh..." Says Rhett.
