Christmases When You Were Mine

Sophie looks beside her and sees Rhett's guitar laying on the ground beside her. A tear runs down her face as she thinks of Rhett and Link. She looks out the window at the little white snowflakes, falling from the sky.

She strums her fingers lightly across the strings and plays a quiet tune.

She starts to sing while crying.

"Please take down the mistletoe
Cause I don't wanna think about that right now
Cause everything I want is miles away
In a snow covered little town
My momma's in the kitchen, worrying about me
Season's greetings, hope you're well
Well I'm doing alright
If you were wondering
Lately I can never tell

I know this shouldn't be a lonely time
But there were Christmases when you were mine

I've been doing fine without you, really
Up until the nights got cold
And everybody's here, except you, baby
Seems like everyone's got someone to hold

But for me it's just a lonely time
Cause there were Christmases when you were mine

Merry Christmas everybody
That'll have to be something I just say this year
I'll bet you got your mom another sweater
And were your cousins late again
When you were putting up the lights this year
Did you notice one less pair of hands

I know this shouldn't be a lonely time
But there were Christmases when I didn't wonder how you are tonight
Cause there were Christmases when you were mine

You were mine..."

A tear falls onto the guitar and Sophie cries harder into her hands.

MEANWHILE...

Rhett covers his face with his hands.

"I'm sorry Link." Says Rhett.

Link puts his arm on Rhett's shoulder.

"It's okay man. I hurt her. You came along and made her feel better than I ever did. Don't feel bad of what happened. It's over." Says Link.

"I just... I don't know what I was thinking." Says Rhett.

"I didn't either. I never wanted to hurt her."

"I never even wanted to leave, even though I honestly thought she hated me."

"She never hated you." Says Link. "She hates me."

"What?! No! She loved you so much. I don't think she ever stopped loving you..."

"R-Really...?" Link stutters.

"She loved you ever since she first saw you. 9th grade in English class."

"I never thought of it that way..."

LINK'S FLASHBACK

I walked into Mr. Spiegel's class for the first time today and whoa. That girl over there... Dang. I needed to stay calm. I needed to find out her name.

REALITY...

Link's eyes widen and a tear runs down his cheek.

"Why can't I just go back to when things were easier? When she loved me... When I first laid eyes on her." Says Link.

"I'm sorry Link. I know how you feel. Just know that I'm here for you..."

"Thanks man." Says Link.

Sophie calls Lizzy, Gigi, and Cleo and invites them to a party on Christmas Eve. She then dials Link's number.

Link picks up.

"Hi Sophie." Says Link.

"Hey Link. I just wanted to let you know that I'm having a party at my place on Christmas Eve, if you wanted to come." Says Sophie.

"I'll be there." Says Link, a smile growing on his face.

"Awesome, thanks."

"Okay. Bye." Says Link.

Link hangs up.

"I love you." Says Sophie quietly.

She calls Rhett and invites him too.

~~~~~~
Link looks down at the lyrics written on a sheet of notebook paper.
He dials a number on his phone and starts talking.
"So, you said it'll work?" Asks Link.
"Yep." Says the person on the other line.
"Awesome. I can't wait until the song airs. She'll love it."
"I can't wait to start recording it tomorrow. And yeah. She'll melt when she hears it."
"I hope so."
"Thanks for this song and letting me record it."
"Thank you."
"She'll love 'Sorry'."
"I really hope she does."
"Well, I'll talk to you later."
"See ya." Says Link before hanging up.
MEANWHILE...
Sophie sees a picture of Link on her phone and starts to cry even more.
She goes to the bathroom and grabs a razor. She makes long cuts on her wrists and her blood drips onto the floor.
I hate this life... I love you Link. I don't want to miss you like this. Come back... Be here. I need you.
