Chapter 2

I was sitting in my living room when there was a knock on my door. I knew who it was but I ignored it.

"Come on Hazie, open the door." I heard Steve said and I scowled and got up opening the door.

"Don't Hazie me Steve. You only use that when you have done something wrong and you know you did." I said and he sighed. He showed me his enlistment paper and I noticed it was marked with 1A. I shoved it back at him.

"Congratulations, you made it. Now what?" I asked walking into my apartment and Steve followed shutting the door.

"I ship out to camp in a few days." Steve said and I huffed a laugh.

"That wasn't what I meant Steve." I said and he sighed as we sat on the couch.

"Steve, I have no one once you leave. My parents are gone, your parents are gone, Bucky is in England and you are going off to training camp. Who do I have Steve?! No one! You were supposed to stay with me when Bucky left." I said upset. Steve stood up and started pacing.

"Hazel, I'm sorry okay but I need to fight! Men are laying down their lives for this country and I need to be there with them." Steve said.

"So you can die and leave me all alone?!" I asked as some tears started to fall. Steve came up to me on the couch and wiped the tears away.

"I am doing this for us Hazel, so we can have a better life and I can be a better man for you." Steve said and I shoved him.

"I just want you Steve Rogers. You are the man I fell in love with and I have never needed another version of you. Ever since that day you and Bucky stood up to that bully for me on the playground I knew we would always be by each other's side. I never knew this close but I love it and I love you. Please don't go." I said and Steve kissed me.

"I have to go love, I'm sorry." Steve said and walked to the door.
"Will you come see me off in 2 days?" Steve asked and I just looked at him.

"I don't know Steve, I'm sorry." I said. He went to leave and I rushed up to him wrapped my arms around his neck.

"I love you." I said as I started to cry.

"I love you too Hazel" Steve said as I pulled away from the hug and passionately kissed him.

"You want to stay tonight?" I asked and Steve shook his head.

"You know I wont do that Hazel." Steve said and I sighed.

"It wouldn't have to mean sex Steve, I know you want to wait." I said and Steve half smiled and placed a hand on my cheek.

"You deserve the world." Steve said and I smiled knowing he always said that when he turned down sex. He always wanted to wait saying I deserved the world. Steve then left the apartment and I fell against the door crying.

2 days later I was rushing to the bus depot, I had to see Steve off. Once I arrived he looked relieved as I threw my arms around his neck and his went around my waist.

"I was getting worried I wouldn't get to see my best girl before I left." Steve said and I smiled.

"I will always be there for you Steve." I said and handed him a picture of me that he took over the holidays. It was always his favorite.

"Keep this with you, some how Steve. I will be right here waiting for you when you get back." I said and he leaned in and passionately kissed me.

"I love you Hazel." Chris said and I smiled. I knew it was just basic training but I still didn't like it. Steve grabbed his stuff and got on the bus. I watched it pull away and I sighed and thought I should just head into work. I had nothing else to do now. Bucky was gone, Steve was gone, I was alone.
