Once we arrived back at the base I pulled Steve into his bunk house since we were alone. Peggy and Doctor Erskine came as well.

"This is what you signed up for?! To be a part of this super solider experiment?!" I asked pissed off and Steve just looked at me.

"What are you even doing here Hazel? Come to check up on me?" Steve asked and I just raised my eyebrows looking at him in shock.

"Excuse me?! No, of course not! I didn't even know you were part of this project Steve. Howard sent me to look after the recruits....of course he did." I said and groaned.

"What about Howard?" Steve asked.

"He told me to come with Agent Carter and Doctor Erskine to keep on eye on the new super solider serum recruits obviously knowing you were one of them." I said.

"He actually did not. I sought you out Miss Morris." Erskine said and I whipped around to look at him.

"You what?!" Steve and I yelled together.

"I saw you all together at the fair and how devoted Steven was to be considered as a solider. That was why I recruited you. I also knew the only person he had in his life was you and knew you would want to see him actually making something of himself." Erskine said and I groaned.

"Not this way Erskine! I wanted Steve home with me." I said.

"Hazel, please understand Steven is leading right now in getting this experiment. He is our best candidate." Erskine said and I sighed. I turned to look at Steve.

"Is this still really what you want? We can go home, I work for Stark and you can get a job in a factory and we can be happy." I said.

"I wont be happy Hazel! I want to do this. I want to fight, I don't want to be in factory." Steve said.

"And what about being with me?" I asked. Steve grabbed my hands.

"Like I said before Hazel this is for us." Steve said.

"You think I like being known as the scrawny guy who is with you and people don't understand it." Steve said and I shook my head.

"I never cared what people said Steve, this was always just about how I loved you." I said and he shook his head.

"I am staying Hazel." Steve said and I removed my hands from his and walked out of the bunk house.

I was walking with Doctor Erskine and Colonel Phillips as we were walking over to Peggy who was forcing the group to do push-ups. I hadn't talked to Steve since the day in the bunk house, which was 2 days ago. He had tried and I refused.

"You're really not thinking about picking Rogers, are you?" Colonel Phillips asked Erskine and he looked at me.

"I'm more than just thinking about it. He is the clear choice." Erskine said and I sighed.

"You don't agree Ms. Morris?" Colonel Phillips asked me.

"I have no say in who you gentlemen pick. I am here to observe for Stark." I said.

"You stick a needle in that kids arm it will go right through him." Phillips said. I clinched my fist on the clipboard I was holding. I hated when people picked on Steve's size. It then hit me that this is why Steve wanted to do this experiment, still didn't agree with it.

"I am looking for qualities beyond the physical." Erskine said.

"Let me pick Hodge. He passed every test we threw at him. He's big, he's fast, he is everything we need." Phillips said mentioning another recruit that was nothing but a troublemaker.
