The river was at the bottom of the farm. Down sloppy hill. She noticed flying bats hanging upside down in the trees, but much like everything else the animals we're also frozen. The only thing that wasn't was both the trees and the water. Even the grass had gone still.
The river was fairly deep and fairly murky. She saw no fish in the river nor was it as clear as Newcastle Ocean. She saw bits of trash heading up stream along with a lot of fallen logs.
"It's so weird to think that water is the only thing moving," Neddy said.
"The twins must be smart even they know that food comes from the land. The stuff at the shops is likely rotten by now."
"Most of it. Can food and bottles of water wouldn't, be. I really wish we had gotten supplies when we could. I highly doubt Smith will let us go after what we've done."
"She might. You never know."
"Hmm."
Violet sat down the ground was cover in dirt and not a patch of grass anywhere near the hill, but she will worry about dirty jeans later. She just needed some time to collect her thoughts and as she looked down into the murky water, she noticed a pair of yellow eyes staring back at her. The more she looked the more she saw that the yellow eyes we're not yellow at all, they we're gold.
"What's a matter?" Neddy asked.
"Do you see that?"
Neddy leaned over her shoulder and looked to where she was pointing. Golden Eyes glanced to the red head as if to make sure Agent Fourteen did indeed know that what the two we're seeing was very much real.
"Whoa."
"I know."
"Is that?"
A long snake like body appeared it just kept on flowing with the river, but Violet saw its pale pink scales and the golden mane.
"I am Golden Eyes," he said. "And, I am here to show you something."
"Show us what?" Neddy asked.
Golden Eyes faded away the pink body, the golden mane and even his golden eyes. For a second Violet thought it was all just a trick of the light, but than the river started it acting up. The current went downwards than upwards, then downwards and upwards again before it started to make big gushing sounds. It started to go clockwise before slowly it formed a circle and the circle slowly started to form a portal.
Violet had a sudden need to lean forward, strangely enough and she wasn't the only one that wanted to lean forward because Neddy did too and the next thing the two knew they we're falling into the open portal. The pair didn't scram as they fell and Violet felt oddly calm.
She didn't think a situation like this would make her calm. Yet, this was and the pair fell, fell, fell before they made a splash into another pool of water.
It was crystal clear unlike the water. No, trash nor log in sight. Violet and Neddy heads popped out of both looked around, but all they saw was darkness. The only light they saw was the crystal-clear water.
"Hello." Neddy said making his way to land.
If she could call it land because by the time, she hopped on the land the darkness didn't fade away. It was still dark and she couldn't tell if she was standing on grass or not, but at least she was out of water.
"If it's fairies don't give them your name," Violet warned. As Neddy stood beside her.
"Why?"
"No, clue. I never read much about fairy lore and I only know that because of Agent One. He deals with fairies."
