Chapter 36

"But I'm perfectly capable of controlling it!"

"No. You have to wear this or else you are staying at HQ and not helping us with anything."

Kari groaned as Zing put on this choker necklace with a clear stone dangling from it. Kari thought initially that it was cute, but now that she knows that she has to wear it at all times, she hates it.

The stone was a Varionstone. It has the ability to suppress powers. It is controlled by another stone, the Zulistone.

The Zulistone is held by one person and the Varionstone by another. If the first person sees that the second person is getting out of control, they can use the Zulistone to activate the suppressant in the Varionstone to stop the second person.

Which is another reason why Kari dislikes it. She could control her own powers! She didn't need to be treated like she couldn't use Magic. She just needed to practice more.

"Kari, normally I would be all for you practicing these powers until you mastered them, but it's too dangerous when you have such a quick temper. So, until you learn how to control your emotions, I will control your powers for you." Zing pointed to his blue Zulistone bracelet. The clear stone stone dangled from side to side as Zing displayed it. "Anyway, it's not like you can't use your powers, you just can't go berserk anymore. You can still practice."

"Oh, come on." Kari said.

"Hey, you should be happy that you won't burn everything you touch anymore." Zing said.

It took a few days to find these stones, and in the meantime, Kari was trying hard to control her Magic. She ended up singing many things and a few people. She apologized profusely for that, but she didn't want to stop practicing.

"I didn't burn everything." Kari said.

"Yeah, you did! Including me." Zing said. He had tried to kiss her once and ended up with burnt lips. Kari found that hilarious though.

"That was funny, you have to admit." Zing smiled.

"I guess. But now I can kiss you without having to worry about burning myself." Zing kissed her cheek.

She sighed. She knew he was right. She couldn't help save people if she was turning everything to ash. She would learn to control her temper. 'That's not going to be easy.'

"Guys!" Dre said coming into the kitchen where Zing and Kari were. "Yo, you gotta check this out!" He went to the sitting room and they followed. The tablet was playing some kind of news channel. Everyone was talking over one another. They looked stressed out.

"Whats happened?" Zing asked.

"The Master is allying himself with the government." Shela said.

"What does that mean?" Kari asked.

"It means that the government will fund the Hunters. If they do that then it will be easy for them to find people like us." Shela sighed. "This way, they can have the money to build equipment to sense us."

Kari furrowed her brow. "If the Master has Dark Magic, why does he need the government to help him? He has the ability to find us by himself."

"That, my dear, is quite simple." Everyone turned to see this fat, grey haired man in a long green cloak standing at the door right near Kari.

"Ndar! What are you- How did you get in here?" Roger asked.

Kari recognized the name, she had met him a few times in the past. Ndar, like Roger, was part of the Sorcerers. The Sorcerers were similar to a Senate or Parliament in Avolin. They consisted of the wisest Wizards and RuneMasters (anyone could use Runes, a RuneMaster is someone who excels at them). Ndar was very powerful. 'But why is he here?'
