Chapter 38
"Damn," Dre said after pouring through the data with Milo for a few hours. The others got bored quickly and left the two by themselves in the larger-than-life castle library.
Milo couldn't contain his joy. There were shelves upon shelves of books and what appeared to be discs. Minè had said that the Serenity Castle was slowly getting improvements and digitizing their records, she had invited him to one day explore through the library if he had wanted. Milo would definitely take her up on that offer. One thing that he loved most in the world was to learn, and since they were in a whole other world, there would be tons and tons of new information for Milo to assimilate.
"...Way too much! How are we going to save Kari if we can't make heads or tails of this info?" Dre had finished saying. Milo tapped Cam's tablet a few times and tried to make it easier for Dre to understand the data.
"Look at it now." Milo said pointing to the newly made chart. "Here, at the top, is the Master," He pointed to the chart. "And, according to the info Anya collected, here are the Captains," He pointed to blank spaces. "She doesn't know who they are exactly, but I'm sure if we keep looking at the data we can find out. Next are the Lieutenant Commanders, then the Lieutenants, then the less powerful hunters who we don't need to care about. The most important ones are the Captains."
"So if we find a Captain, then we can find Kari?" Dre asked.
"I think so. It's worth a shot, right?"
"Yeah, it's better than running around and screaming your head off at people." Dre rolled his eyes.
"He loves her you know." Milo smiled referring to Zing.
"Yeah, but he doesn't need to be crazy tho." Dre smiled too. "She's important to us too."
.....
It was dark.
Too dark.
It smelled damp as well, like it was underground or something.
Kari didn't like it one bit.
She tried to move, but found herself unable to.
"Wha-?" She looked around. After a minute, her eyes adjusted. She saw that she was handcuffed and her feet were restrained, to a bed.
In a dark room.
Possibly underground.
Her eyes widened as she remembered how she got there.
"Shit!!" She tried and tried to get out of the restraints, but it was no use. She couldn't even summon her Magic. She frantically searched the room for something, anything, that'll help her get out of the dark large room. She started hyperventilating as her claustrophobia set in.
"No, no! Not now! I need to get out!!!!" She tried to calm herself down, but to no avail. She heard steps coming toward the door of the room. "Shit!!!"
The door opened to a familiar face.
One Kari knew would not be merciful.
Then she did something she'd never do in front of an enemy.
She started to cry.
She knew she was trapped.
There was no way out.
It was hopeless.
"Help me..."
....
Sam nodded, understanding. They were all in one of the sitting rooms. Milo had explained that the best way to get Kari back is to hit the 'Master' where it hurts, his underlings. His strongest ones.
