Chapter 37
Kari stood up. Numb from what she had heard.
This man, who was supposed to be a protector, a friend.
He was a murderer.
She looked at him. She felt all her anger concentrate on him. She felt her arms tingle. She knew that they were lit with her Flames.
"Oh, my! It seems as though you do possess some type of Fire Magic. How exciting." Ndar said.
Kari said nothing. She continued to glare at him.
"The Master was right to be interested in you. He said you were a fiery one. I had already known that you were strong for such a young Wizard, being a Vice-Admiral in the Marines. I had no clue that this is what he meant."
She said nothing.
"Why don't you make this easy and just come with me? The Master will be happy to have you."
Kari raised her arm. She made a ball of fire and threw it at Ndar. He dodged easily.
"How dare you show your face to me after what you did." Kari said with so much venom in her voice, Ndar flinched. "No. I won't go with you. Because you won't be leaving this place alive. I will turn you to ash, you sick piece of shit."
"I'm sensing a little anger from you. Guards? Kill the others." Ndar said. The other Hunters began to fight Kari's friends. "No matter about your anger. It's not like you can defeat me. I am a Sorcerer."
"Not anymore. I use my authority as a Vice-Admiral to strip that title from you. Consider yourself dishonorably discharged." Kari said calmly. She knew she didn't have much of a chance. But with her new power, maybe she could at least hurt him.
"That isn't a big deal. I hated that position anyway. At least with the Hunters I can do what I do best. Kill." Ndar laughed.
Kari chose that moment to lunge at him. He easily dodged but Kari caught herself and kicked him in the side hard.
Ndar stepped back a few steps. He summoned his Familiar, or 'pet Demon', it was a winged lion, or Griffon. It was the same size as Kari, but much heavier. It flapped its massive wings and screeched.
"Fucking coward. Your using your Familiar because you don't want to fight me." Kari said.
"Oh, no. I don't want to fight you.I want to kill you." Ndar said. "But since I must bring you back alive, I decided on using Gryinion. He will be gentle. I promise you." Ndar laughed.
Kari didn't waste any time jumping at the Griffon. It screeched again as Kari dug her burning hands into its flesh. She was able to light her foot on fire and used it to kick the Griffon's face.
It screeched once more and tried to hit Kari with its wings. Kari flipped out of the way, landing a few feet away. She charged again, but this time, she was kicked at. Using all four of it's legs it kicked out. She still dodged but she wasn't expecting the wing to come down on her.
She turned and felt a familiar ripple.
The wing was inches from her face.
Time had paused.
She turned to see Billy among the fighting. He held his side and looked at her saying something.
You don't have long.
She nodded.
She felt all the rage that was built up inside of her. She placed her hands on the Griffon and screamed releasing all her anger on it.
