His beat up converse hit the concrete lightly as he jogged up the stairs and entered the school, where the halls stood still with students chatting to one another before the first class started. Devon walked straight to his locker walking past Bekah and Bianca who stood at her locker chatting quietly to one another, he seen her eyes glance over to him as they made brief eye contact.

"Devon Clark!" Devon jumped slightly as he turned to look at Sara "What?" He spat back gripping onto the straps of his backpack tightly, everyone in the halls were looking at the two now "You murdered my brother Harrison!" Sara yelled making everyone gasp lightly and start muttering.

"No I didn't, I should've but I didn't. You're just a sorry little excuse of a sister, couldn't even protect your own brother." Devon jabbed back as tears ran down Sara's face.

"I know you murdered him, you murdered him in cold blood!" Sara cried making Bekah bit down on her bottom lip.

"No he didn't!" Her words spoke before her mind had time to think "And how would you know, Rebecca?" Sara questioned "Because one he was with me the night your brother was killed, he helped me take care of Robert who had knocked out." Bekah walked over to Sara standing face to face with her.

"And two it's just Bekah. Now knock it off and quit blaming people for pity it's getting sick." Sara stared at Bekah with an unknown look in her eyes before she got a small smirk "So y'all had sex is that right?" Another round of gasps broke through the hallway as Robert clenched his jaw shut tightly.

"No, we didn't. I helped her with Robert, then we sat there and talked for a while it was day break when I left and went home." Devon lied for her, he felt compelled to lie for Bekah. As if it was his job to speak up on her behalf like she did for him.

The time for first class had now arrived giving the students a reason to break away from the drama unfolding in the hallways, Bianca attached to Bekah's side as they walked to their first class together ignoring the muttered words they heard from other students "I can't believe she did that? To confront him like that." Bianca whispered.

"It was definitely one way to start the morning." Bekah sat down before her eyes locked with Devon who walked in "Let him sit here." Bekah looked at Bianca who raised an eyebrow "You sure?" Bekah merely nodded as Bianca took the seat in front of Bekah allowing Devon to sit next to Bekah- 3 feet away but still close enough to talk.

"Why did you do that?" Devon questioned and Bekah gave a slight shrug "I needed to, she wouldn't have stopped." Bekah answered honestly because even she couldn't pinpoint why she did what she did "Why did you do it?" Bekah looked over at Devon who stared at her intently.

"I needed to. Thank you." Bekah was surprised a 'thank you' from Devon. She hadn't heard one of those for a minute now, the conversation died out there as class resumed. But once it was over Devon was by Bekah's side.

"What about Robert?" Devon asked making Bekah look at her "We were helping him together that night, that's the story." Devon nods slowly "Bianca knows doesn't she?" Bekah felt everything in her stop for a minute as she thought over if she should lie or not "That right there told me she does." Bekah stopped and looked at Devon.

"She can be trusted, I promise you that." Bekah searched his eyes for any indication that he didn't believe her but she couldn't see anything other than the dark coffee brown color.

"I'll see ya later." Bekah clenched her fists tightly before nodding her head "Devon?" He stopped just 7 feet away from her and turned back around "I heard you joined the football team, good luck in practice." Bekah offered up making Devon nod his head "Yeah, yeah. Thanks." And like that they turned around and walked away from one another.
