It was later in the day, school was done for. The air was warm with a gentle breeze, the clouds were letting in just enough sun to brighten the ground below it but not over power and blind those on that ground. The field was full of hot and sweaty football players were breaking their backs to ace practice as the cheerleaders stood on the sidelines practicing a new routine- one that Bianca hoped would look killer for the next game.

Devon stopped momentarily as his eyes glanced over to the cheerleaders- Bekah Huntsman. She moved gracefully as Bianca stood by her side, the pom poms in her hands shaking about. Her hair was tied in a now messy ponytail as she moved to the beat of Bianca's counting. Devon looked back onto the field to where Robert was standing talking to James- neither of them had picked up on Devon watching Bekah.

Robert turned around and headed for the locker rooms, which caught the attention of Devon. Why on earth was he headed back to the locker rooms? Practice wasn't over. So, without thought or hesitation Devon headed in the same direction as Robert.

"Hey." Robert turned to stare at Devon as he placed his helmet on the bench.

"Hi." The classic monotone answer came from the introvert making Devon nod "Why are you in here?" Devon cut straight to the chase with no little chit chat in between.

"James thinks he is doing the right thing, but he isn't." Robert admitted "And what's that?" Devon was suddenly curious and Robert sighs "Cutting you from the team." His heart stopped as he stood there- Devon was no jock but he found a liking for football already, it was easy for him to release anger.

"Why?" Devon questioned making Robert shrug.

"Dante thinks-" Without another word Devon stormed out to the field "Oh fuck." Robert jogged out to see Devon already across the field headed for Dante "Sh-damn-shit." Robert was now sprinting to get to the fast walking Devon.

"What the hell is your problem?" Devon questioned as he got closer to Dante "Oouuu, here to murder me next?" Dante taunts as he looks at Devon who stopped.

"Or are you gonna go fuck that Huntsman cheerleader?" Dante laughs "Or should I? Should I show her what a real man is like?" Devon clenched his teeth shut before Dante was knocked to the ground.

Robert stood by Devon's side, anger should have just been written across his face from just the look he gave Dante "Dude what the hell?!" James yelled.

"You wanna fuck something, Dante? Huh? Cause if that's the case I'll give you something to fuck." Robert gritted his teeth and James raised his head up high "What did you say Dante?" James knew very well that Robert wouldn't have hit anyone for no reason- and certainly wouldn't have used that kind of language or threat for no reason.

"Talked about Bekah in a foul way." Devon answered making James nod "Get off my field Dante, we'll talk about you later. As for your strong words and thoughts on Devon- keep them to yourself, cause he is staying on my team. Another slip up and you'll be off my team." James looked at Devon and for a split second Devon thought that maybe he saw a twinkle of sorrow mixed with an apology.

But he had to be mistaken, right?

"What happened?" Devon and Robert stepped aside to show the cheerleaders now standing behind them "Nothing girls, aren't you guys practicing a new routine?" James tried to take the spotlight off of the knocked down Dante who laid there still "Yeah, up until I saw Robert over here throwing hands." Bianca raised an eyebrow making Robert shrug.

"My hand slipped." Robert lied making Bekah smack his arm lightly "Ow!" Robert held his arm that now slightly stung and Bekah shrugged her shoulders "My hand slipped." Bekah winked before Bianca tugged her and the others back to their section of the field to continue practice.
