Happy to have reconnected with her sisters, Mira was humming to herself as she dried off her hair. But her happiness did not last long as she heard her Abuela angrily shout her name. Knowing whatever got her Abuela mad was not good, she wasted no time rushing to face her unknown fate. However she was not expecting to see her sisters standing to the side looking ashamed and with Isabella still covered in colorful flower dust. She slowed down from a sprint to a trot as the rest of her family once again assembled to see her get yelled at.
Julieta walked in quickly with her husband at her side when they heard her mama yells for Mirabel. She hated how hard she was on her because even though she messes up at times she tries extremely hard to always make her grandmother proud. Agustin was just as nervous as his wife for his daughter and hated how she was looked down upon because of her lack of gift when him and Felix where treated just fine.
Dolores was upset, as was Luisa and Isabella because she had heard their conversation with Abuela. She had spent most of her life listening to her talk down to her family, pressuring them to always perform perfectly and she hated it. She knew her grandmother meant well but she held on too tightly to the miracle and neglected to acknowledge they were more than just their gifts. She had a general idea of what was about to go down and she didn't like it one bit.
When Mirabel reached Abuela she had her hands in fists to hide that they were shaking. None of her recent conversations with Abuela had been good and she didn't think this one would be good either. "Is everything ok Abuela?" "No Mirabel, everything is not okay! I have let you be out of control long enough! Look at Isabella's dress! You've made her a mess! And Luisa! I find out she had been talking to you and crying because she feels weak! Look at what you are doing to this family! I will not have you medaling with this family any more!" Mirabel listened as the women she had tried so long in vain to impress tear her down and claim she was ruining her own family on purpose.
"This family? I'm part of the family too! Luisa felt weak because of all the constant pressure put on her! And Isabella wasn't happy! She wasn't able to be who she wanted to be and I helped her see what all she could do with her powers! Do you even hear yourself? I'm not the problem, you are! I've never been good enough for you and I never will be... but don't you DARE tell me that what I'm doing to help my family is tearing us apart!"
Abuela's face began to darken as I stood up for myself for once and stumbled back as she took a step towards me. "I don't know why you given a gift but that does not mean you can blame everything YOU DO WRONG ON OTHERS! WHY CAN'T YOU EVER JUST LISTSN TO ME AND STAY OUT OF THE WAY LIKE I ASK!?"
My Abuela was ashamed of me and just admitted it in front of the whole family. As my heart shatters the house began to shake. "Casita!?" The floor between Mirabel and Abuela splits and the family is in too much of shock to respond. Mirabel whips her head around towards the candle and just as she fears, the magic is dying...
