Just like the night of Antonio's birthday, Mirabel watched helplessly as it begins to crack apart. She yells at Casita to get her to the candle and starts to climb. Mira can hear her family behind her yelling at her to get out and that the house will fall but she can't fail them, not again. She reaches for the candle and Casita gives her the little lift she needs to reach it. She slides down to the floor but when she looks up, sees her uncle's tower falling towards her!

Casita runs to her rescue as the rest of her family watches on helplessly as their house falls onto the family member they are all so protective of. Abuela watches numbly as she realizes her actions have lead her to lose yet another family member. All she could do was hope and pray her granddaughter was alive somewhere under all the rubble.

Camilo and Isabella were heartbroken, they had tried their best to help save Mirabel and the candle but they weren't enough. Mirabel's words of her never being enough repeated through their heads as they began to cry out to Mirabel. Luisa began to try to pulls up all the rubble and cried as she no longer was strong enough to protect her family. Julieta prayed her daughter wasn't too injured because she could no longer heal with food instead only time. Pepa comforted Antonio as he sobbed and if she was still gifted would be surrounded by a hurricane of fear and worry for her niece.

Dolores tried so hard to hear Mirabel's heartbeat but everything was too quiet. The time her gift was needed most, she wasn't enough. But she refused to give up, if Mirabel could survive without a gift, she could too. They all could.

Inside a pile of dust and darkness, Mirabel laid weakly with blood dripping down her forehead and her glass cracked. Even with her glasses, the dust was too hard for her to see through but she could feel the weight of it all on top of her. The two doors had prevented her being too hurt but the tower pushed one onto her and casita was too weak to lift it off. So Mirabel sat there for who knows how long trying to move away from the door but couldn't. It became harder for her to breath and she could only just hear her name being called.

But she was weak and out of breath. Mirabel tried to call out for help but all that came out was a harsh cough. She croaked begging for help and hear footsteps rush in her direction. "Mirabel?!" She hear someone say in a panicked tone. "Please help! I'm stuck!" She managed to croak out. They reassured that she will be okay and will come back with help. When they returned she recognized Luisa's voice telling the others to carefully move the biggest parts off first.

Slowly but surely, the weight lightened but Mirabel was struggling to stay awake. Her words were slurring and her family tried to be as quick as possible and keep her talking. As light flooded into sight Mirabel heard a cry of shock before she slipped into the darkness of her mind.
