A life of solitude isn't all that bad. I don't hate it.
Keeping away from all human interactions is easy. Locking myself in my bedroom most days is partially heaven. Leaving yourself alone with your thoughts are treacherous circumstances, but sometimes it's unbelievably necessary.
The worst part of a life of solitude, having it end. All good things must come to an end. Having a job means that you're forced to interact with people all day long. The one person I'm dreading coming face to face with, he'll eventually show up for his work shift also.
"For the love of all that's good and pure in this world, you'd think that these people haven't had caffeine in a year!" Seth groaned, crying up at the ceiling.
We've been working overtime over the last few days. The coffee house has been more packed than usual. Lines of people waiting to get their drinks. Between being closed down for two weeks, and with Seth and Jayden being called away for hockey practice, everyone is on edge with me making coffee on my own.
"I could go for a cup myself," I stated, attempting to clean the coffee grinders. "Some of these people look like they want to kill me."
"Maybe because you take an hour to make one cup," Seth laughed.
I scowled in his direction. You know if he wanted coffee to be made faster, then he could help me. I'm standing here struggling, and Seth's cleaning up the messes that I'm leaving behind.
"Don't you have a hockey practice to get to?" I questioned.
Seth adjusted his too big watch, which slid down his wrist. He checked the time to see how much longer he had before practice.
"Jayden should be here any minute," Seth announced. "With our first game this Saturday, you'll be left to the torturous voices of Karlee and Kaylee."
"Who?" I asked.
"The double trouble twins. They work here when it's on-season for hockey. When I tell you that those two give me an insufferable migraine, you'll wish you played a sport," Seth groaned.
I chuckled, returning to the irritating customers. Whoever these girls are, they can't be as bad as Seth is making them sound. I've never heard of Karlee and Kaylie, so I don't know who they could be and why they're so insufferable.
It didn't take long for Seth to change the topic of conversation. Whoever these twins are, he doesn't like them.
Seth hovered over me, taking the bag of coffee from my hands and whispered, "You can't avoid him forever, you know."
My body stiffened, yanking the bag back from Seth. "I haven't the slightest idea what you're talking about," I said.
"Look, I don't know what goes on in that beautifully talented head of yours, but whatever you're thinking just remember, one night isn't worth losing a friendship over," Seth said.
