Jayden stood next to me when I climbed into the passenger seat of his car. Before I could react, he put a blindfold over my face.

"What the hell?"

"I told you it was a surprise," Jayden defended himself.

"I didn't think a surprise meant taking away one of the five senses," I whined.

Jayden circled the car and turned on the ignition. "How's your first holiday season back in Crescent Heights?" Jayden asked, making conversation. He's distracting me. If I focus on his questions, I won't focus on where we might be driving. No chance of that happening. I already lost our direction after the second turn.

"It's exactly how I remembered it," I said, looking in his direction. "How's Christmas been for you over the last few years?"

"The same every year," Jayden sighed. "I got new hockey equipment. Emi gets new books or new clothes."

"Is the same what you want?"

"I wouldn't mind changing it up. I love hockey as much as the next person, but I'd like to think I have other interests. Plus, my parents say that they never know what to get me for Christmas. I've learned that keeping quiet is the best option," Jayden explained.

"Well, maybe you'll get a better birthday present," I whispered.

Seconds after Jayden turned off the car, I started feeling cold again. I didn't say anything when I heard Jayden's car door open and close. If he thinks I'm going to get out of this car on my own, blindfolded, he's sadly mistaken.

A few seconds later, my door opened and Jayden reached for my hand.

I let him pull me out of the car. To my surprise, Jayden didn't let go of my hand. He led me in a random direction with my vision still black. I couldn't tell where we were. The only thing I knew, we were outside in the freezing cold.

My shoes were getting wet due to the snow, and my loose jeans were an extremely bad idea. I'm getting goosebumps on my legs.

This Christmas is becoming stranger by the minute. Jayden made me sit blindfolded in his car and my present from him isn't at the house. I don't know what it could be.

It's colder than ever before tonight, so being out of the house wasn't on the top of my to do list. This gift better be top tier.

Jayden's fingers intertwined with mine. He guided me out of his car, and I could tell that we were walking on grass. We didn't walk for long, but not being able to see made me feel like we were walking for an hour. Snow and grass. That's all of Crescent Heights right now.

"Just a few more feet," Jayden murmured.

"JayJay! I swear if we're in some sketchy part of town, I'm going to kill you!" I shouted.
