My heavy eyelids were forced open when the morning sunlight came through my window.  The other annoying part of waking up is the fact that Emi's fingers are nearly in my mouth. I rolled over and fell out of bed, taking the blanket with me.

I landed on the ground, feeling my ass cheek throb in pain, and shouted, "Ow!"

"What are you doing?" Emi yawned, patting the bed to find a blanket.

"Praying I don't have a tailbone injury, because you nearly stuffed your hand in my mouth during the night," I said, getting up and rubbing my butt.

"Oops," Emi giggled, stretching her arms above her head. "It's our last day here, and it's going to be the most crowded. We should start getting ready."

According to Emi, Jayden, and Seth, New Year's Eve is the most crowded day on the mountains. All the tourists are trying to snowboard or ski all day long, before they close the mountain for the fireworks.

When we all met at the front door, it was an unspoken agreement that the four of us stay conjoined at the hip today.

For the last few days, I've been spending every second with Emi. She even slept in bed with me last night.

The four of us are all upset that this is our last day for snowboarding, but Seth gave us all a pep talk last night that this is going to be our best day ever. We're going to go up the ski lift enough times to make us dizzy.

"Let's go, people! We're ending this year off on a high note!" Seth exclaimed.

Once we reached the mountains, it looked like everyone on Earth was trying to get on the ski lift. The four of us were not about to give up on snowboarding today.

It took almost a half hour to get to the top of the black diamond.

We've been here for five days and it's been incredible. I've gotten more comfortable and become more confident while riding my board.

"We've only got mountain time until around five,"  Seth said.

"It's only ten in the morning. I think we have plenty of time," I added.

"Well, once all the tourists are off the mountains, we can sneak back on to our secret spot," Seth explained.

"Are you talking about that mountain ridge we found when we were kids?" I asked.

Jayden and Seth both nodded eagerly. "It's still the greatest view of the fireworks!"

Back in the day our families would come here every year for New Year's Eve. Seth, Jayden, Emi, and I snuck off when we were kids and found a mountain ridge that was off limits to riders.
